SIAP - Recommendations on gears?

I am a relative neophyte to all things mechanical, but I've become a bit more inspired now with my new car, and I was thinking about eventually changing out the stock gears to maybe 3.73s.

Just so you know, mine is a 3.7L AT, and I am assuming that the gearing is 2.73, but I was less than confident when my dealership's service department said he thought the stock gears were 3.15(?). My main reason for wanting the shorter gears is for greater acceleration -- shocker, I know -- and because I would like to ultimately have my car tuned for better shift points. My only chief complaint so far is feeling like the AT shifts a little too conservatively and seems a bit sluggish at times, especially when you drop the hammer.

I know my MPG will ultimately drop, but I was curious how much and how noticeable it would be in different driving scenarios (city vs hwy). I actually have a fairly short drive to work; so, it's not a HUGE concern to me, but I did buy the V6 partly for the better fuel economy.

So....does anyone want to help a n00b figure out what's best for my needs/preferences?

for city the mileage might go up a bit, for highway depending on the current gearing (no idea what it is) it will go down a bit 2mpg maybe.

Gear installs are tricky... so you have to get them done right just FYI do your research on this.

Re: SIAP - Recommendations on gears?

Thanks. I was going to have the dealership install them so I don't have to worry about screwing anything up. I just didn't know if it would be worth it...if I should go with 3.33, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, etc.

Putting steeper gears in yoru car will hit hurt your gas miliage. Increase acceleration but hurt MPG. Maybe 2mpg overall.

Also what you plan for the car? you want to drag it, road course or just some more get up. Lowest I would go is 3.73's. Or even go 3.90s.

Just more get up and go. At the moment, I don't plan on doing anything for the suspension or exhaust or anything. Then again, I am a bit of a tinkerer by nature; so, I could see myself going back on that eventually.

But I definitely just want it to be a more aggressive daily driver right now.
