I think there are a few threads on here about it. I could be wrong but I thought that's what I read. But if they are good I say go for it! Not like that v6 is fast enough already lol

I've been looking for someone as well. I have only come across one person who has a tune an he lives in Germany and mainly got it because of his CAI he installed. Other than that no one has posted any thing about tunes and the performance for a 2011 or 2011 V6.

keep in mind if you tune it and Ford fines out (just putting it back to stock does not remove the trace of tuning it) then the warranty can be fully voided

That's not true. All the dealership can tell is that the computer has been reset recently. The same as if you unhook the battery. The warranty would only be voided if you took the car with the tune still uploaded.
Hope this helps.

Actually no... We can tell how many times the computer has been reprogramed. So if we know there are only two PCM updates in the vehicles history, and we scan your car and it shows us that it has been reprogramed 7 times then we know someones been flashing the PCM. Now our dealer ain't too picky about this. It just depends on the dealer you go too.

I don't think the issue is the place to dyne. But rather that we want people who have tuned their 2011 V6 pony to give us feedback. Likes, dislikes.

I did a 93 race tune for my 2011 V6 base with 3.31's JLT intake, BBK headers, BBK O/R X, and Magnaflow Comp catback. I am also running 275's in the back and 255's up front for tires on GT500 PP wheels which is equivalent to stock size on the speedo, but if I want to run 305's in the rear and 275's up front like I may soon, then they can set you up with the right revs per minute so your speedometer wont be inaccurate. I also will be changing my gearing which they'll compensate for as well. The only tune they wont do is supercharged and in that case, you can take your tuner to a dyno shop and they'll upload a supercharged dyno tune to it and you can still use it. the tuner will never go to waste.

No problems at all. If you ever do supercharge it and go to a dyno, just make sure they're reliable. As long as you have Bama do all the work, you'll be more than okay. They guarantee what they send you.

Re: Tune for 11-12 v6

I talked with the service department at the Ford dealership I use for all my service on the Mustang, this includes my previous 04 GT that I owned. The policy with the service department here has been that if you mod the car and that mod caused the damage then the warranty for that part or caused damaged by the mod will not be covered by/under the warranty. So of course my question was if I run a tune will this void the warranty, in addition, do I need to put the car back to factory settings when I bring it in. The response was that if the tune causes the part failure or problem with the car then it will not be covered by/under the warranty. It does not void the entire warranty. I can also leave the tune and not have to change it back to factory settings.

So before you run a tune or mod, call your service department and make sure they don't have issues. I've read where some service departments will void the entire warranty because of one mod or tune.

I'm ordering my tuner shortly...

Re: Tune for 11-12 v6

the need for a custom dyno tune is strong. I will put in a 3.31 gear set replacing stock, an AL drive shaft and a tune to correct the speedo. Also the tune will boost the automatic's shift points to about 7,000 RPM and then thin out the fuel air ratio in some RPM buckets to increase both power and mileage. The tuner will need a special program for the 3.7 V6. Is this computer program available? Also, can the tuner reset the nagging seat belt reminder, the "change oil now" reminder and the 110 top speed govenor??

Re: Tune for 11-12 v6

Dannydoright,
I just put a CAI (cold air intake) and Bama tuned my 2 week old 2012 V6 Auto Mustang. Bought it all at american muscle. I just joined the group so hopefully this helps you. I did things in stages over this weekend. First took the car out with my cousin who is a camaro leaning kinda guy or bmw depending on the day of the week, lol. Anyway did a run down both country roads and highway (stock). I did a tune 83 Octane Street. I felt a big difference on shifting and throw you back in the seat response to the gas. My wife also felt the difference when I had her take it for a spin. Then I put the CAI on it and took it around a bit (my C&L CAI can run without a tune without leaning the mixture). Still have power and now my exhaust has a slightly meaner sound to it. Which is great as i did not want a rumble my neighbor house exhaust add on. Some will run through the whole warranty fear. I slightly went through that but then again it is only a weekend car for me. Plus the fact is you can put it back to stock and go 50 miles to clear it out. I plan on only running the 1 tune maybe changing down the road to another one perhaps 91 octane street. So if you plan on not swapping tunes alot then do not worry about the warranty deal. I hope this helps you.

Re: Tune for 11-12 v6

I did it a opposite of that. I tried the tune first which gives you 80% of the power increase you will see with both of them combined. Then I put on the CAI which is about 20% of your overall gain in power and response. This is at least true with the Auto V6, which is what i have. The tuner helps the most for those with the auto v6. I think that is what you said you had also. The main thing is the shifting which BAMA tweaked on the dyno to both give us better shift points and more power. The CAI will give you car a more throaty louder sound with even the stock muffler.

STILL waiting for the dealership to get back to me about my engine smell. Once that is sorted out, I will load up my tune.

I've now had this thing almost a week, and I feel like a 7 year old waiting to open Christmas presents!

Re: Tune for 11-12 v6

Great, I hope they take care of your car issue. I am glad that I took the route I did and decided to save some money and not go the GT route. I will be honest the v6 auto with the tunes and CAI are plenty of power for me. The reality is that in my area you really cannot get too crazy (road construction, police every mile, country roads with crazy 4 way and 2 way stops and just plan bad roads). One little admission I did look at the Boss Mustang while at the dealer and my wife gave the "really" look, lol. So i passed on it plus as a weekend vehicle I made the right choice.
