Rusty Headers?

So, I was jumping a coworker's car this morning, and I just so happened to notice the headers coming off my 2011 Mustang that I've only owned for 2 months are rusty as hell! I mean, these things look as bad as my 20 year old Honda.

Can anyone tell me if this is common or if I should go crack some skulls at my dealership?

Re: Rusty Headers?

its just the material that they are made from I bet, and no protection on them

Re: Rusty Headers?

So...I should not complain to the dealer? This is just how it will look unless I put on some ceramic headers or something with some protection that I may or may not have to clean/scrub regularly to keep it free of rust?

I attached some pics so you can see how bad (to me) it looks.

I'm pretty sure it's justtt surface rust. The components are fine but it looks alot worse than it is

Haha, I HAVE been looking at them as well as different exhaust systems. Maybe I can show this to my wife, and she'll be less angry at me when I spend a bunch of money on "stuff you don't need!"

Other than a Bassani system, are there any street legal long headers? Looks like most of the stuff is illegal for emissions.

Re: Rusty Headers?

Are the BBK headers street legal, or do long tube headers by definition cut out the catalytic converter?

They are legal as long as you use the BBK catted x pipe. I'm [not] using the off road one
