I drive fairly well with the occasional pedal to the floor. Ha! I would say I drive equal distances for City and highway.

Re: MPG average

I have had my 2012 for a little over 3 weeks. I recently took it on a 900 mile round trip with 85% highway miles. I had a stretch where I was at 27.8 mpg. All included I ended at 26.5 mpg.

Local driving I am getting 19-22.5 mpg.

Re: MPG average

My 2012 has the standard manual 6 speed. At 70 mph in 6th I was right around 2000 rpm's maybe a shade under with cruise control.

Re: MPG average

For some comparison, my 'vette usually does around 20, in town, and 26-28ish on the highway. My Civic has never averaged less than 30. It usually does 35-37, highway. It is, however, horribly under powered.

Re: MPG average

My MPGs aren't great either, but I haven't hand calculated them, just going off the computer. I've heard that some Mustang owners are getting between 2-4 mpg better when hand calculated over the car's computer.

Re: MPG average

its all in how you drive it, if you go 80 on the highway kiss your mileage goodbye compared to 60mph etc~

Re: MPG average

does your 2011 have the real time MPG gauge? if so keep it on and learn whats needed to keep it higher than 18~ etc. Our 2011 Edge has this and it works good

31mpg is interstate flag driving at like 55mph or something~ you wont get the top number driving in the city or driving faster etc its only going to do it under given circumstances.

Re: MPG average

Some other owners have posted crazy MPG numbers when in specific RPM ranges...and not in an inverse ratio to RPM. The hypothesis is that there might be more efficient RPM ranges (like 2000 - 2500) for this vehicle as opposed to maybe a more traditional "lowest RPM in highest gear" scenario. I know that if you're driving around 60mph or so, you'll be in 6th gear (in AT) at well under 2,000 RPM. Is it some magic combo you need to hit better fuel efficiency?

I never cruise at 60mph; so, I have no idea what those numbers would be anyhow

I find that I get a little bit better mileage when I'm not cruising opposed to cruising at the same speed

You didn't get the rapid spec magic package with a Mr. Fusion on it?

I am taking a trip to Florida this weekend, and I am going to experiment with different driving styles and MPG. I am also going to hand calculate to see if the computer is accurate.

LOL...no some rabbit took off with that package.

Crazy, but I keep a spreadsheet on my Pony, log every fill up, calculate the mpg and input any changes/mods/maintenance.

Have fun and enjoy!

I try to watch that, but it seems as long as you are holding a steady speed that is the sweet spot. lol

Re: MPG average

With a C&L CAI installed and mixed driving, I'm averaging 22-24 MPG as calculated by hand. I do drive slightly more highway than town driving, but I enjoy going from 30 MPH to 70 MPH on the on ramp. While on the highway I cruise between 70 and 75 MPH.

Re: MPG average

Ok, so I just got back from my Florida trip. On the way down, I had a little bit of ATL traffic on the tank along with interstate plus state highway (stop lights) traffic on the way down. I also did a couple of show off maneuvers for my friends while I was down there.

Filled up with the computer showing 24.6 MPG with a hand calculation of 26.3. So, the computer was off by a little more than 1 MPG. On the drive back, it was strictly state highway and interstate traffic with the only "city" driving being the brief slowdowns in small towns of Alabama. Right now, the computer is saying 27.2 MPG; so, I am probably getting at least 28 or better.

What I noticed is that with stock 2.73 gears, driving 55 MPH or above will keep you in 6th gear, and you're knocking back somewhere around 32 MPG or so on the computer. And I am a 300lb dude; so, you're probably going to do as well or better even with your significant other in the car with you

Of course, driving 55 MPH seems like sacrilege in this vehicle; so, I will take the ding in order to go faster...even then, most of my drive was going 75+ with a couple of brief stretches at 90 or so...

Re: MPG average

My MPG has gotten worse since I added Borla Touring Axle back exhausts a week ago. I don't think it is an issue with new exhaust or the car. It is just that thirst to hear that growl.

I can live with this MPG problem. Anyone else making this sacrifice?
