First time claying my car...wow

Well, let's start with the bad news. I discovered nicks in the paint, or at least I think they are. Nothing seems to get them off, but maybe you guys have suggestions?

That's the worst part about cleaning your car - it highlights the blemishes.

Now, the good news...holy crap, that clay bar works! It is disturbing how much grit is still sitting on your car after thoroughly washing, rinsing, and drying. It is slick as can be now. Now that it's waxed too...she's a beaut!

I would take some pics, but the weather is gorgeous here with the sun shining, and it would white out the camera!

Nice! Take pics when it's not so bright.

I hate chips. Recently discovered one myself

Sweet! I love using the claybar. I try to claybar the car twice a year.

I used Meguiar's kit. It was my first time too. Basically, you're removing surface contaminants/particulate that washing doesn't remove. Spray their quick detail spray, spray a little on the clay, and then lightly rub the clay over your car. In some particularly dirty spots, you'll even hear a faint fine sandpaper sound. Look down at your piece of clay, and it will look dirty. Once you get that off, you're ready to polish and wax!

You want to wash your car first before you clay bar. I recommend the two bucket wash system.

I like to spray off my mitt because it makes it even less likely to transfer grit and grime than the two bucket system.

I use grit guard in my buckets. It prevents you from transferring grit and grime.

yup dirty cars are noticed when you claybar your car, its crazy. Thankfully my paint seems to remain rather clean. Last time I tried to claybar it didnt pick up very much of anything but I probably should do it again soon.

It's crazy though that you have much of anything after scrubbing it thoroughly. I am just happy I heard about it; otherwise, I'd be waxing over that crap!
