Plasti Dips work

I got some ideas off a post about plasti dip work so I went to home Depot and bought off some bottles. Did some hash stripes and a blackout decdklid panel. Give some feed back. This is temporary while my hood and stripes arrive

The back looks good. The hash is Dodge's thing and I'd let them keep it IMO. It's actually part of their logo now. Just my opinion.

Idk, I like the hashmarks. They were first used on race cars to identify teams. And chevy also uses them on the Grandsport corvette. It's just a performance car thing.

I think the center stripes and blackout panel will look great on your car.

Re: Plasti Dips work

I like it.. plastidip FTW. Starting to prep the car for whole car to be covered. Pics and a thread will be started really soon.

I would like the fender stripes if they were wider, they look too thin to me.

Re: Plasti Dips work

its basically plastic coating, in spray paint form. You can paint anything you want, and if you dont like it it peels right off... like so

It looked better. Hit it with a second coat and it looked bad, but when it dried it was pretty nice, a little drippy. So I got automotive sandpaper, got rid of the drips and hit it again just now. Gonna wait a while and check it out again. Damn, I was gonna do my wheels today too, but it's getting dark now :p

It does look like you did a good job. If I were going to do the hashes I'd go a little thicker/wider with them

When you plasti dipped your stripes how many coats did you do? And when you took the tape off how did you fo it? Thats the hard part. The plastic comes right off with the tape

No worries bro. The magnetic strip will last longer. You might even need less bottles. For some reason we get all excited and buy alot jaja. I bought 6 and did 5 coats on everything with 1 1/2 bottles. I still have the other 4 in my trunk.

Take a razor blade along the edge of the tire and be very very carful. also when you peel the tape, peel at an opposite 45 degree angle and be slow, take your time.I did three coats, make sure you go horizontal, vertical, horizontal. Never stop the spray in the center of what your painting, and just take your time, I cant reitterate that enough. any questions at all feel free to ask away.

Re: Plasti Dips work

Oh trust me, I am doing a huge in depth HOW TO on it for people who are wanting to try this... someone else on here was staring it, they had a red new edge, got about halfway there and gave up. But he was doing flat white instead of black... was looking good too!

I will definitely have a lot of photos, and I will answer any questions along the way!

Your seriously doing the whole car in plasti dip? Gloss or flat? Why? Won't it add a significant amount of weight, like if you were to paint it with spray in bed liner?

*seriously confused*

Re: Plasti Dips work

Flat, Because people want to see it and i'll be working on most of the car over winter anyways, not unless adding the equivalence of about 15 trash bags is enough to add unnecessary weight, bedliner is bedliner, this is thin plastic. no thicker than a trashbag. And I am also sketching on the car for fun. to see how it turns out.

reverse color scheme of this so i'll be flat black with white pen marks

and then where the stripes were going to be I am going to take the white and anodize it blue for shi ts and giggles.

kinda like so (5 second paint sketch)

You said ur working on this during the winter, do u need to worry about the temperature where you live, affecting the plasti dip?
