Gas mileage 2012 v6

I drove 69-70 on freeway most of the time (unless I passed a big, and went 80-85!) and got 26.4 mpg for about 100 miles! Pretty good! I would get 29.4 going steady at 69-70 mph! Wow! I'm sure if I went 60-65, I could get 31 mpg, but I hate driving slow!

I get around 27 mpg on my daily commute to work (41 miles, 2/3 of it highway). It nearly got 33 on a road trip from NC to TX with the cruise set at 75.

Re: Gas mileage 2012 v6

does the gas mileage improve with more miles on the car? say after 4k or so? I currently have about 600 miles on the 2012 V6 and averaged around 24mpg on cruise control going 60-70mph :-/

After 3500 I noticed a difference. But then I put on some magnaflow mufflers on and breathes much better. And increased gas mileage about 2mpg. Other than the muffler my Stang Is stock.

If it matters mine is a standard. Which I don't think it does makes a difference.

I got 23k miles on mine; completely stock. Gas milage has stayed the same since the day I drove it off the lot with 16 miles on the odometer.
Straight city driving these cars are only rated at 19 or so. I do a ton of highway drive so I average pretty good.

I regularly drive 80 on the interstate with 3.73 gears when i'm not stuck in bumper to bumper traffic so I expect my MPG to suck. I have no idea what driving habits other posters have, and I can only chalk differences in efficiency up to those other circumstances.

Re: Gas mileage 2012 v6

I constantly maintain 31 mpg when I'm driving like normal people. I have recorded my best MPG on the freeway at 65 mph and maintained 42 mpg because i VERY VERY lightly press the gas pedal on the freeway. These conditions have to be great though.

I only have a CAI and Ram air hood from TruCarbon for better air flow to the CAI

Re: Gas mileage 2012 v6

My 2011 V6 auto averages 21.5 to 22 back and forth to work. (Half highway(60ish) & half city.
My best was 34 for a full tank on Interstate 80 (70ish)
And I'm not easy on the pedal.
25K+ miles.

I got 3.31. How much difference you think that will make on the gas mileage?

It'll ding you about 3-4 MPG, I would guess. By comparison, my 3.73 gears ding me about 6-7 MPG

If you figure with 3.31 gears, your RPMs are about 21% greater than stock at the same speed in the same gear.

With 3.73 gears, your RPMs are about 36% greater than stock.

Just be glad you don't have 4.10s as those are spinning 50% greater than stock!
