I do think understand why the companies don't just put in a nice CAI to begin with if it improves power and mpgs
That is what I was expecting when I did this too! My dad came over when I was doing this and he looked confused when he saw me tearing apart my brand new car lol. But I told him that I expected to get 2-3 MPG better, well worth the $30! But now i will pay for the project in 2 tanks of gas! Do you all think I just got lucky and this particular engine is a fluke?

Lucky or fluke. Definitely non-standard. But just enjoy it!

I'd say try verifying it the old fashioned way (calculator). Check if it's calculating it properly

Yeah, I'd definitely verify that. Not to say its wrong but if it were me, I'd double check. Sometimes these computers lie!

Didn't think of this... hmm I will have to wait until my next trip to saint Louis ... that gas pedal always looks so tempting about halfway through the tank! Lol

Most of the time, the computer is lower than hand calculated though.

Absolutely. It's always a pleasant surprise.

What's the worst that could happen with no tune?
If you let more air then the car is programmed to compensate for you'll run lean the computer is programmed to allow that extra air in, the new mustangs computers pretty complicated. I'm in the same boat too I don't want to buy a tuner but with what it provides its definatley worth it

Go C&L but without a SCT tuner or any other tuner you are buying a CAI for looks. Barely any performance gain.

I'm getting the tuner too run 91 and advance my timing as well as clean up throttle response and to have it for when I get my gears I almost wanna do the 4.10s and tuner combo and drop in a k&n instead but someone told me I won't notice much of a difference between stock 3.31 and 4.10s

Re: Steeda or Air Raid?

Thats what I thought too......I really want the 4.10s but I do a ton of highway driving and I heard some bad horror stories.... anyways I really like Airaid they make decent products and don't cost as much as Steeda.

Yeah if you really want the best go with AEM. They really have the best design and have some decent prices on ebay. I have a C&L that i got used for 140 and love it. Either way u go youll be happy.

I'm surprised if thats making THAT much of a mpg diff (38mpg)
Ya. I see its possible to make a homemade, reliable intake but 38mpg? how can yours be that different?!
