If you can afford it, why not? The issue I have is with young kids who either can't afford it (car payment is higher than rent/mortgage) or don't need it (insurance's prohibitive premiums should be a clue).

The main thing is the cost/benefit ratio. If you've got the money to buy it, let it rip!

I agree. But if you can afford a 5.0 then why not just go all out on the boss or shelby?

Because the Boss is 11000 more and the Shelby is 20000 more, that's ALOT

V6 premium for sure dude!

---------- Post added at 05:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:22 PM ----------

I would have loved to have the Boss 302 in the green...but this V6 Prem and MCA/ Perf packages will be just fine...good gas mileage and performance!

I swapped out my v6 for a v8.
But, if we're talking new cars with newer technology, I'd go for a new 3.7l. I'd love to DD a '11-13 v6 and have my old pushrod for the weekends/fun

Id think it would be the other way around! Drive your pushrod as a dd then save the v6 for weekends. Make it last longer and it has more power!

---------- Post added at 08:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:35 AM ----------

Better hurry up and snag a 12 while their at 0 percent financing

I'll upgrade to the 2015 in a few years when they're at 0%

Re: Should I get a V6 or V8 Mustang?

I got 0 percent for my 12 v6 back in december...i was custom ordering it and 1/3 dealers no longer had allocation for custom orders, the last two had 1-2 orders left. I hate buying a brand new car off the lot...i want everything catered to me! Order a 13 in the winter...youll save thousands on interest if they bring back the 0 financing. Although this was the first time ever in canada ive seen 0% on stangs.

I got 0 percent as well this past Feb. First time Ive EVER seen 0 percent on a mustang. My guess is its only this one time because the 13's are coming out a little earlier.

---------- Post added at 06:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:57 PM ----------

I doubt the 15's will have 0 percent. Theyre gonna be way too popular!

Get the v6, i figured out in the difference in cost between the 2, the extra cost if insurance and the extra gas, it would cost almost 350 more a month to get the gt, i got the v6 performance package in september and never looked back

You shoulda took 0% financing and invested that money so you'd have liquidity and dividend returns/potential gains.

I was expecting more of a 350z sound but its not the same, it doesnt sound bad (still stock exhaust) but its just not quite what I had hoped for.

I purchased the v6 over the V8 as I already had a V8 Mustang and I wanted a car I could DD to work, looks good, reliable, and is fun to drive while getting good gas mileage (got the 6 speed). It gets 29mpg highway, averages 23-24 with my daily drive (city/highway). Its the 6 speed version so its not MUCH better peak mpg vs the GT (26mpg) but I am sure it does better with daily normal driving.

I got the car for 1500 rebates, 1000 off sticker (invoice price), and 750 more off that along with a GREAT trade in value for my old 05 Sebring... sticker started out at 23,450 (had an appearance package that was 295.00 add on.... aka ugly side stripes and rear spoiler.... the stripes are now removed). So for the price I cant complain, far far cheaper than I could have picked up a base GT for.

Well the stock exhaust is lame.. Gotta upgrade. I love the sound of my magnaflows. Loud, very deep down low, but when you get on it's more sporty, I guess you could say more zish?

If i was rich i would still opt for the v6 as my dd. Shelby even has a version of the v6 now called the gts. The v6 mustang is no longer the "v6 mustang".

---------- Post added at 11:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:42 AM ----------

The stock exhaust is good for dd but if your looking for sound go with the roush axlebacks.

Never even considered a V6 before the 2011. V6 was the ubiquitous chick car in the 90s. I hated everything about Mustangs back then.

My how times change.

Re: Should I get a V6 or V8 Mustang?

Hey guys, wow a lot of great responses! I just wanted to thank all of you. I just test drove a 2011 v6 convertible yesterday. I don't know if it was just the dealer talking in the passenger seat next to me but I just couldn't seem to enjoy the vert'. I Just didn't get that "wow" factor that I craved. I just got a quote from my insurance policy (Geico) and I got a great break on it for a 2011 ford mustang GT coupe. I'm going to test drive one this upcoming Friday and see if I like it or not. I'll definitely let you guys know how that goes and thank you do much for the responses!

Verts are overpriced... And I personally don't like them. So go with the GT in that case! But let us know what you decide, and don't forget pics

Seconded. If you're going to spend the extra money, get a GT. I was underwhelmed the first time I drove a V6 Mustang too, but the gears make all the difference in the world. Look at maybe getting the perf pack.

I've decided to get a GT coupe next time, I'm tired of the vert this my 2nd one, first Mustang though. You can always get a convertible next time.
