Re: Aluminum Driveshaft

I would like to know how much weight it saves, every 1 lb of rotating mass is about like 10 lbs of dead weight~ on my old 01 it was 10lbs lighter.

Do the v6' shave two piece DS's?

Supposedly sheds off 29 pounds of rotating mass.

You had it on your 01? Did you notice a difference in acceleration?

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft

not a ton, it was 10lbs lighter (25lbs stock vs 15lbs with new DS). Thats about like 100lbs~ so as you can see its not a HUGE difference in this example, but if its really 29lbs lighter (which would mean the stock one is MASSIVE so double check that) then thats a good difference and should help gas mileage a bit as well.

get someone or two someones totaling to 300lbs in your car then drive with/without them thats kind of how it should feel overall.

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft

I know on a fox body your saving about 20 -25 lbs total weight on a driveshaft
I'm sure on 94 - 2004 its pretty close to that also ,as the DS are close
but 05 and up not sure ,I've had the shaft out of my V6 and its a BIG HEAVY unit compered to the old fox's ..............

Our 3.7 ds is total crap... it comes with rust even from the factory and is the only eco cheap part on our car.

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft

I have the 4" Shaftmasters on my 2006 and it made a huge difference. The car felt lighter, acceleration was noticeably quicker following the install. The weight difference was 20 lbs compared to stock.
