Can't imagine you'd win with those 2.73's but I can't say for sure

---------- Post added at 07:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:19 AM ----------

I think he'll win tbh. Pretty sure he's got more tq on his side. Well is it 1/8 or 1/4?

if it is stock then yes you will win the 2vs are not impressive at all unless they have a few mods.

With the current mods and drivers being equally skilled, I can see the V6 walking away with the W. the new V6s are pretty impressive and the 99 GT is... Not so impressive. After he puts the 4.10s in then I believe he'll have the advantage.

But then if you get a tuner and tune your auto.. You'll probably run a close race with him even with his 4.10s.

Re: 2011 v6 VS 1999 gt

the V6 wont have the tq curve but overall it may come out on top. The key at the track is the LAUNCH if you can launch it and win that battle you should have the run won. Practice and aim for 2.0 60ft times at least.

The new v6 will stomp on a 2v. A tuned v6 auto with 2.73's will pull about a half a car on a 3v 05-09 gt auto with whatever stock gears they have. Ive seen it happen and it aint pretty. Lol

Lol the 6r80 trans is a way better transmission than the 5r55s so when tuned it will blow the 05-09 gt away. Well by half a car at least lol its close

I've been to the track and raced a 04 GT and a 06 GT. both 5 speed. I was always close or even. They had simple bolt ons and tuned. The 04 always got me at the launch. (me need new tires) so it would be close.

Get a tune buddy what are you waiting for. The auto without a tune is pretty sluggish, a tune will wake it up.

Was the 04 coupe or vert? Verts are slower

It'll be close but I have to go with the GT!.. It's still smaller, a bit lighter, with a bit more torque!..

I ran against a 2010 V6 Camaro not long ago and walked him!.. He also had a few bolt-ons and a tune!..

the new v6 with tune and exhaust and good tires will take care of the 2v gts with same mods. ive owned a 2v b4 and they need some work to be impressive.

The new v6 will beat the 05-09 gt's. Ive seen it happen about 5 times. Auto with a tune for the v6 and auto and manual with the gt. The tune gives the v6 the torque needed that the gt has on it in stock form. Plus the v6 is a lot lighter!

No they won't!.. The new Camaro V6 puts down similar numbers as the Mustang V6!.. I walked the guy three pulls in a row!.. I had my wife and a trunk full of groceries too!.. I know this guy and he has almost all the same bolt-ons as me!.. He didn't have a passenger and his car was empty!..

The new V6s do put down some impressive numbers but they still don't really have the torque!...

Then you have seen some one who can't drive!.. It's already been proven that stock for stock and mod for mod, the '05-'09 GT will beat the new V6!.. Sorry but it just don't have enough torque to pull ahead!..

Torque wins races and HP sells cars!..

i have owned a 2v i know what they are capable of they are nothing impressive unless you do some pretty heavy mods to them
trust me i know. the 2vs only put down about 220-230 stock. my wife has a new 12 v6 and i am
far more impressed with it compared to a stock 2v. heads/cams full exhaust and dyno tune can make the 2vs nasty though.

---------- Post added at 05:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:12 PM ----------

i do like the 2vs though i would own another 2v b4 i got a 3v again thats for sure

I drove both cars and we raced 3 times. And the v6 had a tune and the gt didnt. Im not talkinh stock to stock mod to mod. Read the previous post i clearly stated that.

Then your comparison isn't valid because your comparing a modded car to a stock one!.. Lol. And then using that to say that the new V6 is better!... Lol. Do mod for mod and stock for stock if you want to see which is better!..

AM's test gave the V6 stang 14.1 in the 1/4 and a 13.6 w/ just cold air and tune. That's w/ 2.73 gears.. stock/similarly modded 99-04 GT's run about the same #'s. Considering the 99 is a vert, expect just a tad slower. It's a close race and will come down to the driver imo.

Motortrend gave the stock PP V6 a 13.7... To the original poster. Since you don't have a tune, I think the GT would come out on top. Cold air and exhaust won't give you any gains. If you had a tune, then you'd take him. It'll be a close race though!
