Stripes

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting some racing stripes painted on my car. What do you think looks better, 1 stripe down the middle or 2?

I like the 2 stripes. 8 or 10inch. I'd get the lower side stripes as well. Think it looks odd w/o. imo

I've been tempted to get the racing stripes but I like the clean look on my car

Just saw in your pic you have the lower side stripes.. Your going with white racing stripes?

I like the look of Super Snake stripes, you could do that or you could get the 2 stripes most people get.

Re: Stripes

I will definitely go with white stripes. I had a stripe similar to the Super Snake one on my previous Mustang, so I am kind of leaning toward the 2 stripes

Super snake is the only stripe layout I would want.

Re: Stripes

Are we really talking painted-on stripes, or vinyl? I didn't know anyone painted em on anymore, but if they do I'd wanna go with that. Seems it would last longer than the vinyl.. right?

Paint lasts so much longer than vinyl and people say it looks so much cleaner

Agreed. I don't like the tactile difference of the vinyl. Just looks cheaper to me.

True, but if you have the money why not?

Re: Stripes

I am going to get them painted on. Paint will last a lot longer than vinyl would, so it is worth spending more.

You could go with the gt500 stripes. Bottom of the front bumper all the way to the bottom of the back bumper. Thats just my opinion.

I just had vinyl stripes done. Went with a single 15 inch stripe that has .25 inch pinstripes along the sides, 1/2 inch in between. Also 2.25 inch side stripes, with the same pinstripes and space in between. Mustang in gothic print white letters. Plus front fender stripe that is 7.5 inches with a single pinstripe on the front. It looks sick!

It does look sick. Nice work! How much did that run, if you don't mind me asking? Also, where'd you get those seats, or did you do them yourself?

Looks good...for vinyl

If you do do the 2 strip I think the transition is so much better if you have a pinstripe on either side of them so it just doesn't change color abruptly

The stripes cost me $450. I saw some that were like 6 years old and they still looked good, so I went for it. And the seats I designed and had custom made. Its top grain black leather, the center is dyed red alligator, and on the outside of the alligator is charcoal colored ostrich. All red stitching. I bought all the materials, and had a furniture upholstery guy put it together. Total was $1,700. First thing everyone notices though!

Re: Stripes

I got a guy here that's gonna do one 10" hood stripe, with .25" pin stripes on each side of it, and MUSTANG lettered on the sides with no stripes... all for less than $250. I'm seriously considering saving up for painted on stripes though... just don't know if I wanna spend that kind of dough.

$250 is pretty cheap. Totally do-able, but usually its cheaper vinyl in that case and will fade quicker. If you get those done though, you could try to save up for paint before the vinyl starts fading. That would be cool

That's an idea. These guys are THE stripe guys in the area.... everyone from the Ford dealer to the local police station uses them. I'll keep you posted.
