Throttle lag

So my auto stang works perfectly except one thing kinda not very good for me is the throttle delay. When i put my foot down and then I have to wait 2/3 seconds to "go". Does anyone how to fix it or how to remedy it? Appreciate that

When you floor it the reason it has a delay is because it senses that you want to go faster so it changes to a lower gear to allow you to accelerate better... The whole delay is just it changing into the appropriate gear which is normal for all automatics... That's why so many people love manuals, it doesn't decide what gear to go in for you and there is no delay.

Re: Throttle lag

Part of it could be the downshift delay, but there is some throttle lag with the stock tune. Get it tuned, and you will notice the difference.

Kinda off topic yet on topic here. But when I slow down to a red light an it turns green before I stop then I accelerate the rpms spool up to say 2.5 then it has a small kick then is fine. It's a delay in the clutch plates in the tranny or something. But yes the two mustangs I owned both had a little delay and tunes do help bring her alive. Just a ford thing.

Didn't think of that. But in an automatic 2011?

You mean why is it still so slow? I dunno...wife's Honda CR-V seems more responsive than my Mustang, but obviously the Stang has a lot more power on tap.

Na not the fact she is slow. She will go when you want, but just those instances when you slow down then give it gas it like will jerk and idk if it's the two piece driveshaft or the tranny to motor area. I'm no mechanic by any means but I'm jw if anyone had that same weird jerk.

Yeah, I think part of that is hunting for the right gear. Has yours ever "slipped" under load and maybe 25% or so throttle?

Worst thing in the world, get a tune or sell and buy a manual.

I do think it's trying to find the right gear. I mean it does have six in an automatic. That's a lot since they were 4 speeds I think. But the tune seems like a good place to start. Even if it doesn't help it, at least I'll have a fast 6er. I don't have a manual for the fact that I'm in bumper to bumper traffic half the time. No where to open it up and the clutch would be gone soon. Plus I'll settle for my payments and insurance as is because I'm a college student.

Yep, I am in Atlanta, and traffic makes you hate a manual.
