Check Engine Light

I just got my 2012 V6 Mustang in October and haven't done much yet except get Borla exhaust put on. Over the weekend my check engine light came on and I have no idea what may have caused it. I always make sure I get my oil changed every 3,000 miles and I try and take really good care of the car. I called the dealer where I have the warranty and they were less than helpful. They told me to continue to drive it an hour each way back and forth to work all week until I can come in on Saturday. I'm a little nervous that depending on what the issue was it may just get worse.. Any ideas?!??

Is the car running any different? Any changes in oil pressure or water temp?

Could just be a bad sensor of some kind.

Re: Check Engine Light

It doesn't seem to be running with as much power as usualy, but everything seems to be fine as far as I can see. Hopefully it is just a sensor or something like that. This is the second time I've had to bring it back to fix something already, my air bag had to be replaced a few months back.

That sucks. Had to bring mine in once to fix the A/C. Other than that it's been solid.

Re: Check Engine Light

its under warranty let the dealership fix it, also 3k may be FAR to often to change your oil as it can go up to 10k (has some sort of system that tells you when to change it etc) some do it at 5k or 10k~

Re: Check Engine Light

Pick up a $40 obd2 reader on ebay itll save you the unsure feeling you have right now next time this happens. 9/10 times its a generic code that the reader can tell how severe it is. Plus the ford dealer cant screw you, unless its a non generic code

Does it sound any different when you drive it? If you're saying you lost power, I am wondering if it's an O2 sensor that is jacked up and messing with your fuel tables. Could be starving the engine of power.

But yeah, definitely take it to the dealership...you paid too much to have to worry! And I wouldn't continue driving it until I go it figured out....or let Ford put it in writing that they told you to continue driving it...
