Mustang base and premium interiors

Just ordered leather seats for my car and am crazy excited. Other than that I think I actually like the color of the dash in the base ( darker ) then the brushed aluminum in the premium. Other than that is there anything else to do to the interior to try to get rid of some of the cheap plastics they used ?

What about the door inserts? Quilted leather or a matching color to the interior or exterior could help a lot

Re: Mustang base and premium interiors

Door sill inserts if you dont have them, upgrade your steering wheel (base model ones look like something out of a tractor) and if i didnt have the premium id opt for a carbon fiber dash :p it looks great even though its totally non functional

Heres my interior

Mine is leather. Idk if paint would work or look very good. Another guy just started a thread about the same thing he put in orange inserts. Ask him how he did it and what it costs. I didn't do mine the previous owner did.

I brought illuminated door sills for my car from blue oval industries for $100 and they 10x better than the plastic ones. But had to wire them up to my dome lights which means you can't change the color of them once installed.

I have some blue LED strips under my dash but I simply connected it to my headlight switch so they turn on/off when the door open/closes and when driving along at night when my headlights are switched on. also they dim with the dimmer switch.

You are right. I should have just looked it up in the first place. If anyone else is curious, both the Pony Package and the MCA Package have auto headlamps included.

All our cars are fitted with a light sensor in the dash, its just take ford didn't put the switch in the base and premium mustangs. I was told you can just put in the GT headlight switch?

New guy here, I changed my switch to an automatic switch about a week ago, one of the best and cheapest mods I've ever done to the Stang. Here's a summary that i copied from another forum:

As many of you know it is very simple to get the Auto headlight feature in a vehicle that did not come with it stock. You must simply change out the switch. It was mentioned that the only drawback being that you would not be able to adjust the delay, since it isnt built into the messege center like vehilces that came factory equipped. Follow the steps below and you should be able to set the delay timer for any amount of time up to 3 minutes.

NOTE: The time delay can be programmed through the message center using the message center buttons (if equipped) or using the following steps.

NOTE: Steps 2 through 5 must be carried out within a 10-second period.

1. Start with the ignition switch off and the headlamp switch in the AUTOLAMPS ON position.

2. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.

3. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.

4. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.

5. Place the headlamp switch in the AUTOLAMPS ON position. The exterior lamps turn on at this point.

6. Wait the desired amount of time and place the headlamp switch in the OFF position (maximum of 3 minutes). The exterior lamps turn off and the autolamp time delay is now set.

Re: Mustang base and premium interiors

For those who want the auto headlamps for the 2013s, it might be worth asking the dealer about activating that, or adding whatever switch is needed. My Premium V6 appears to utilize the light sensor simply to know when to bring up the nighttime lighting for the instruments and accents.

Personally, I don't care to have automatic headlamps. I got my car exactly the way I wanted it driven straight over from the factory back on March 30. I'm still in that new-owner haze where everything is good.

Love my interior and the little touches. I was in the market for a fun, strong car and Ford won me over from buying a Camaro this year (I might not always be a Ford guy, but I'm always an American car company guy). And that was comparing a 2012 Camaro I could see and feel to a 2013 Mustang I could not, at the time.

How do you change out the switch? Is is difficult to remove the surrounding panel(s)? Is is already prewired, so all you have to do is unplug and plug, or is it more involved? Thanks!

It is extremely easy- Just pull out the surrounding plate, unplug the switch from the wiring, reverse, enjoy.
