| Boss decal help
Alright. So everyone knows what the 2012 boss looks like. Well I'm trying to make my v6 look like that. But instead of the black decal stopping on the top of the cawl I was thinking about making it bigger. Kinda like the old 69 boss. Any suggestions?

you can probably find tons of styles out there see if you can find one from a quality source that works. Otherwise its custom and you never know when you try that.
Also, its probably not fun to install so I would get a pro to do it.

I know for a fact in going with the boss c stripe from the 69.(boss 226) But I thought about keeping the hood like it too. Where it's mostly covered in black.

Something like that. There is a pair of boss 302s the auctioned at Barrett jackson in 2010 and it was a exact match to the 69. Just wouldn't know if that's full custom or where to begin on it. Decisions decisions...

Update. My car goes in the paint shop next week. Getting paired up just like a 69 boss. Can't wait!

Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE it is a 226? Not a 227? I am very interested in this idea and I may just steal it from you! Lol

The head ford mechanic at Capital City Ford Lincoln Jefferson City told me it was 227... | Lol it's 227. The paint guy builds old and new ones and he said it was 227 cu inch. It's going to look like the patriot that was auctioned at Barrett Jackson.

Looking good. My hood has seen it's better days alot of rock chips and such. Want to paint a black wide strip on mine. How much did they charge for the hood? Love the boss stripes

It was 1000 for clear coat and the gloss black and it's painted on the hood like a 69. Follows the character lines. The roof and deck lid are painted and where most people put a panel between the tail lights is painted as well. I forgot about the back end. But it sure does turn heads.

But like you say you can't really change it. But it really makes this average v6 a head turner and it's what I was set on doing. If your gonna change it a few years down the road then decal it. If not I say spend the extra and get it protected with it in the paint. ---------- Post added at 11:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:27 PM ---------- Quote: |

Any plans for wheels? I think some black bullits with chrome lip would compliment the car very well. Just my opinion though. |

I want to find the gt premium wheels where they look like the boss rims but have a little price of chrome on each spoke. They were in a ford book I saw at the dealer when I bought the car. I'm trying to keep the boss 227 theme tied together

You could get the Boss 302S wheels? Like on the Laguna Seca.

With the red in them? That would not flow right. If they make them in a standard black or something that would be something to look into. I just dont want an all black run and bullitts are well... Overused IMO

Yes I can wash it. But I can't wax it. The paint is still soft. So you let it sit in the sun instead of the garage for close to 30 days. I'm not going to wash it with a mitt and soap till July. But I do run water over it and dry with a shammy.

Be careful with that idea my friend. I detail cars on the side......you can scratch that fresh
paint easily by not removing all of the dirt before you shammy. The fire trucks at my department are living proof....well except for the new 2010's....cause I detail them..LOL!

And my dad has 2 chevelles and he goes to car shows often So I know a little but willing to learn more. So far I've had no swirls or anything....yet... It just feels like if I put the car wash soap on there it'll slide ride off. But it won't, you know? I'm probably going to attempt to wash it Friday. It's been sitting it the sun everyday since I got it out and garage it before the dew sets. The things people do to keep a car fresh lol

It's more than hard work, it's many many weekends and practically a part time job to keep them clean. I'm very particular about my paint and the proof is in the people that stop in parking lots and either talk to me or snap a picture. I don't think this boss scheme would draw so much attention. Since you detail, and it's off forum, what do you use for swirls?
