First do you drive nice? Second is it a manual? If you open up the guts so it can breath you should be able to see a gain. So what I did was I took off the mufflers, installed an airaid CAI, and got a Bama tune. That is how I got that massive 40.9 MPG figure you saw... but I was driving super nice at 65 MPH on a road trip... it goes down to about 25 when its all in town driving!

From an advertised 31 to 18 though.. Has to be more to it.. Probably an auto and some aggressive driving.

Either way, has to be more to it IMO
What's the city rating?

City rating is 19 I believe. It's only 1 mpg better than the GT in the city.
I have averaged 30.5 mpg combined city/highway. My daily drive to work is 41 miles one way. Of that, 25 miles is straight highway, the rest is stop and go traffic.

Lol well my suggestion would be to be easier on the gas (I know it easier said than done!) But also look into exhaust (I just unbolted the mufflers and put new hangers on the over the axle pipes to keep them from hitting the axle. They are very loud on takeoff but they quite down at idle and in sixth gear. Then look into the intake. A tune would be even better. Have you done any of these things?

Can get a few mpgs with CAI + tune and some other products but nothing major. Stay low in RPMs, get up to speed, then feather the throttle and coast. Not much fun but it can help keep you out of trouble. |

It's rather simple really. If you want and/or expect good gas mileage, you have to keep your right foot in check. Installing a CAI, exhaust and a tune will improve mileage as much as 5-6 mpg or more in some cases.
Also, keep the tires at the proper pressure and keep the air filter clean and don't haul around extra weight in the trunk or back seat.

Ive only got 2500 kms on my car but highway i get about 8L/100km (29.4mpg) and city i get 12L/100km (19.6 mpg) in a stock with manual trans. I use cruise control on highway a bit but disengage it on downhills (still cant believe cruise can work on a stickshift!)
This car is so economical compared to my other ride...99 infiniti qx4 (suv)...it barely does 18mpg on the highway. So i am not complaining!

Got this today. Going 71 on thruway with cruise control. Drove about 230 miles to a theme park. Good mixture of down hill, uphill, and straight driving.

Average around 15mpgs in the city, and got a max of 29mpg on a long trip cruising at 65. Got more when I disengaged the Cruise control and feathered the throttle instead.

I started out getting 32mpg. Then I added a CAI and went to 36. Then I got the tune and went to 40. Then I switched to 93 octane and went to 42. Now i'm getting better mileage than the Prius.

Highway ( long trips 500+miles) I'll get 23ish my mpg actually got better with most of my mods. And that's with a 93 race tune from bama. Around town stop and go after like 200 miles I can average about 21. Now on the weekends when I'm playing around.. About 13 lol

I get around 21-22 with my mostly highway drive. Idling KILLS a Stang's mileage though. Pure highway driving is around 25 MPG going 65. Start moving up that tach, and you'll watch it tank...
Main factors are lead foot and idling. Take those two out of the equation, and you can get some good mileage.

Heavy acceleration, bad MPG. I just bought my '11 v6 just about three weeks ago now, it says I average 21.2. (But I've been driving pretty heavy ) I'm really not complaining if I average 21-22. My 4.7 v8 Jeep was averaging 14.5 so anything in the 20s is golden in my book.
