2013 mustang exterior mods

I just recently got a 2013 mustang v6 in the color deep impact blue. I was looking at some vinyl racing stripes on American muscle (white) and was wondering if anybody had put these on their deep impact blue mustang before. If you have how does it look? Also, would it look bad to paint the stock rims black since I painted my brake calipers white

Funny that you ask this since we all basically told someone else to remove the white side stripes off their Kona Blue. That was side stripes so the opinions may differ. I'm not crazy about the idea though. I have seen a Kona Blue with glossy black stripes and I liked that look a lot.

Re: 2013 mustang exterior mods

wow...painted the calipers white eh..?
Tell me later on how much fun you have keeping them clean.
Me...i'd have painted the brakes blue and the wheels white....but only my opinion
you going out for the white dual rally stripe look???
find a local decal shop to do it for you...the AM stripes arent getting the best reviews in the forums...

BTW..nice choice on color for your 2013

Hahaha yeah its gonna be a pain in the *** to keep them painted white. and I was thinking the gt500 racing stripes (like 2 of them) . I just want something to make my car like stand out and um a fan of some type of racing stripe and painted calipers/ caliper covers. At first I was thinking red caliper covers but then I wasn't sure if they would look good so I painted then white. It looks pretty good but its doesn't exactly "pop". Would red look good or would it be too flashy?

Re: 2013 mustang exterior mods

might be too much with the DI blue. I'd go for a close match to your body color...then paint (my choice) or plasti-dip the wheels black. Have a look at my album for the side shot with black wheels and green brakes....

You would be much better off getting stripes painted on. It will cost more, but they will last longer. And look better IMO.

Re: 2013 mustang exterior mods

yeah, painting is an idea....if thats the look you want to keep forever. Why I went with decals...might find or come up with something cooler.....
it depends on what you want to spend.......before your better half threatens to kill you..LOL!

Re: 2013 mustang exterior mods

I hope a bunch of you with 'plasti-dip' wheels are coming to mustang week.....I want to see and feel how they are. I'm gonna leave my VHT satin wheel paint on and see how it holds up...but if the plasti dip will take more punishment...I may have to rethink it when I go to put a second copat on later in the laff when I dont have to worry about the humidity

Has anyone painted their stock v6 wheels black? How do they look? If so can you post a picture?

Does anyone know when the pmy delete billet grille (the one made up of horizontal lines) for the 2013 mustang v6 will come out. I've looked everywhere but no place has it. Strangely enough, I've seen some 2013 mustangs with it. If anyone has any info that would be greatly appreciated

Re: 2013 mustang exterior mods

I used the G2 matching caliper paint and am very happy with the look.

The Black Rotor is brand new EBC Rotors with the coating still on prior to use.

This isn't really exterior but does anyone know how much it would cost to add leather to my 2013 v6 (I have cloth right now).

I have an 02 v6 and I know an upholstery guy, just for the leather hide it's $600, and that was for inserts, the rest would have cost almost a 1000.
So we went back and did vinyl and all the vinyl cost me 300, and 700 for labor for
Fixing my foam
Stripping the seats
And doing a custom upholstery
Over 3 days.
It came out to be 1,100
Do vinyl it looks great and costs less than leather, and it looks pretty much like leather. Hope this helps!

Not done yet. I'm looking to have him do it in a month or two. I'll post it up in a thread when I do, he's busy right now, he does work for hundreds of McDonalds and other food chains.

The racing stripes and side stripes on my car are vinyl and I was wondering how I wash them? Is there some special maintenance needed? Can I use wax on them? Can I still take my car to a carwash place (the one with the machines doing all the work) or will I have to wash it by hand?

I try to stay away from car washes, even the touch free ones. I had a friend who took his SUV through a touch free and the machine tore into the side of his vehicle. The owners of the car wash paid everything, but it made me want to stay away and wash by hand.

Are they matte or glossy stripes? Either way Id say car washes are ok, unless one starts peeling up for some reason. High pressure water will possibly make it worse. Just avoid waxing them if they aren't glossy.

Re: 2013 mustang exterior mods

I wash mine by hand.....and with JS on the waxing...a light spray wax but only after a month of sun exposure...let em break in.

They are white stripes. So would waxing be okay?

I'm not sure. I've never tried waxing a musical group.

You should be fine but there probably is no reason to wax them since they are glossy white. Just keep em clean.
