New to Mustang/First Mod

This is my first Mustang and first time using Plasti Dip. I want to upgrade the front upper and lower to a Rousch billet but I think it looks pretty good let me know your thoughts.

Well it back to stock after the local car wash. I'm gonna keep emblem stock crome on back and just upgrade grill. I will file it under applicator error.

I've been to the car wash a dozen times. A little wear on my wheels so I just reapply. But the pony and back pieces are perfect still.

Re: New to Mustang/First Mod

ouch! that many apps? you did your wheels 3-5 times each? Hmmm....might have to get some more cans if I swap from the VHT satin thats on there now to the plasti-dip. I just need to see how the stuff I used will hold up....

Automatic wash and I did 4 coats with 20 min between each in the AZ sun and let it dry for a day. I prepped the crome cleaning it windex so not sure what went wrong. Oh well an excuse to get the grill.

Re: New to Mustang/First Mod

im with syas...I wouldnt wash it for quite a while. 3-4 hours bewteen coats ay? ill have to remember that. BTW.....told White Lightning (guy with the 'Boss 227) to see your pics regarding your wheels. The stock rims look meaner with the plasti-dip, and since He just bought new tires...he could save a few bucks and dip his stock rims

That's what I did. Just tell him to take the wheels off the car, you can get a better coating.

This is where I chime in. I Can't see the guys pictures. Says "no visible album". Maybe it's just an iPhone thing. Where do you find plasti-dip?

Got mine at home depot. It was appx $7. I went through a can and a half, give or take.

And yea, I gotta update. Getting the car washed soon (darn rain) and adding the side stripes so I'll get more pics up soon.

Plasti DRIP! As stated in another thread I posted I'm doing super snake plasti dip stripes. Long story short the nozzle starting dripping on me! Hopefully it smoothes out when it dries otherwise I'll redo it. I took my decklid plasti dip off to get ready for the stripes and it definitely did not come off as easy as I've seen in videos. I thought I did a good 3-4 layers but it came off in pieces. Hopefully this stripe won't be the same way if it's gotta come off...

Mayhem how long did it take you to tape that strip. Edges look clean.

Yea I did this cuz I wasn't sure about them and it's the least permanent solution. But if it holds up on people's wheels I don't seem why it wouldn't last on the body

PLover, the hood didn't take me long at all. Just measured at from the center of the hood to each side both at the front of the hood then the back near the windshield. Laid down 3 lines of tape side by side and removed the middle for the outer stripes. Maybe 15 minutes to make sure it was perfect but it was easy. The bumper is next and that's going to be way harder with the way it's shaped.

I haven't had to many issues, nothing I can complain about, especially since it was less than $20.
