Backwards Ponies

One of my co-workers was standing outside looking at the Mustang a little bit ago and came up to me and stated that there was something wrong with my car. I jumped from my chair and ran outside to hear him say that my passenger center caps for the 2011 OEM 18" pony package wheels are backwards. I looked and sure as ****, the pony is running the wrong way! I looked on the driver's side and those two are going to the front. Anybody else notice this on their center wheel caps???

Lol, you're joking, yes?
If your passenger wheels were on the driver side would they be facing the right way then? I don't think Ford stamped out "Directional Ponies" it's not a mistake it's just what happens when you flip a wheel from one side to the other.

Oh man, haha. My stock wheels have ponies in the center caps too, bugged me that they faced different directions... and this is also why I don't like twisted spoke designs.

Re: Backwards Ponies

haha I know it's small and stupid, but hey I'm the type of guy to pays attention to the detail. Just surprised I didn't pick up on it before now!

Yes, I'm sure Ford is not going to have two production lines for a left and a right center cap for the rims. I'm surprised there isn't a aftermarket piece to fix it though.

Re: Backwards Ponies

The one's on the drivers side are for when you are moving in "DRIVE"

The one's on the passenger side are really for when you are moving in "Reverse"

See, Ford did not try to save $$$ by having two different center caps

I'm sure there's a lot of people out there like you. I see them in line at the DMV all the time. Lol, I'm jk!
I wouldn't doubt there is an aftermarket for forward facing ponies.

Re: Backwards Ponies

Lol its funny because the passenger side fender emblem on the pony pckg kept this in mind. I wont miss those center caps when i eventually upgrade wheels, there are too many pony logos on the pony pckg!

That's what happens when you make 400,00 of the same car each year. Quality control goes down. Someone else here said they had hair in their factory paint lol that sucks

I agree with you, Stig. Ever think about smoking your tail lights, blacking out the decklid, and removing the center tri-pony emblem? One less emblem...
