Re: Fastest 3.7 ?

Solobusa had his to 650whp? Something like that, then his 3.7 ripped the rod from a piston. So, we have plenty of strength to run a 500whp build without too much concern.

Re: Fastest 3.7 ?

He was running the supercharger kit everyone has, with a few more mods, huge injectors, and E85. He's now rebuilding it with forged internals and grabbing CFMs turbo kit. So, we'll see how far he goes this time.

It was nice of him to be the guinea pig for that But I would've done forged when boosting anyway. Wouldn't trust stock. I'll have to check in to see how his project goes.

E85 is bad. They even put a sticker on the gas cap. Is there a way to find out exactly what mods he did? I tried to search for his posts but the search comes up empty

It's bad on a stock motor, but with proper mods it is excellent and can be used to create far more power than regular pump gas

CFM had theres at 13lbs on stock engine running 10's. Believe around 500whp?? Haven't checked with them recently though to see where they're at. I'd still go forged if and when I go FI. Better safe then sorry. Especially if I want to make my car last.

Re: Fastest 3.7 ?

The only reason E85 is avoided stock, is the car is not programmed to run it. Stoic for E85 is way richer than gasoline. It's why they use it for boosted apps, it pushes a lot more fuel into the cylinder which cools the piston, air, and cylinder temps.

The corrosive qualities of E85 are a non-issue for modern cars. However, the excessive amount of fuel needed to pump into the engine will strain fuel injectors and the fuel system. You'll need huge injectors and possibly run a two pump system like some high output LS1s. Personally, I'd resort to meth injection/93 octane before going E85. But, he's going for all out power, so it's a given he chose that route.

Re: Fastest 3.7 ?

CFM has the same Procharge kit as AM, they just took it further. Here's Hector's best and the fastest 3.7 we know exists.

I'd rather have a wicked fast DD than a track beauty. An all around car. Like one day when I'm in my 40's I'll buy a boss and use it as a DD. call me what you will but cars need to be driven not stored. Except rainy days.

I don't drive mine everyday. The 150miles I drive a day would kill me on gas which is why I've got my DD to beat up and sip that gas. I also average 20mpgs highway in the stang. Not sure how anyone gets 30+ lol. But on the weekends you bet I got her out! Plus, I may want to keep this car a long time.

Re: Fastest 3.7 ?

Driving long straight roads at 60mph in 6th gear, I was getting north of 32mpg... lots of hills, so I had to downshift to 5th a few times. Driving around town I've seen a low of 22mpg so far, and I've heard the information center is usually off, reading around 2mpg worse than what you're actually getting. I'll check that out some day, but I'm not concerned atm. My Malibu I got rid of got 27mpg average everywhere. Even if I trade 5mpg in city (highway it seems like it'll be superior), I think it's well worth it.

That's different. If I can get this new job it'll be 100 miles a day round trip commute. I'm 19 with this kind of car so It is my beater an show car. Mine gets 32 mpg at 70 if I turn cruise control off going down hills and turning it on to get up to speed. I'm keeping my stang till it dies or anything else happens to. Just done too much and put a lot of money in the paint alone I just for it up.

asked about the driveshaft......they have only had failures when folks 'tune' out the governor...then usually 132-135 is when it fails. The aluminum driveshaft upgrade can handle much more. Figure right to 135 is what Id push for with a new drive shaft...
you would also have to replace the stock tires with W or Y rated tires 168 mph speed rating!

---------- Post added at 01:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 PM ----------

because the stock tires can only handle up to like 115 or something
