Does the automatic transmission supposed to shift semi clunky like the manual counter part?

I can feel the shifts and sometimes they are very harsh. My passengers don't however unless it's a downshift. When I kick it in retreat you can hear a solid clunk but there is no delay in the shifts. It's just loud

Re: Tranny problems

i'd do a service flush and fill on the trans fluid...and spend the extra $15 on a new trans filter w/ gasket kit (might as well since you'll need a new gasket)

after you do the swap take a magnet to the old fluid and see if any metal gets pulled up and around by it. lets make sure nothing is sheared slightly in there

not as easy as flushing and filling a 5 speed, but still pretty straight forward

Re: Tranny problems

I had the same exact issues both downshifting and the upshift at low speeds. The problem persisted after a full transmission fluid refill. Solution? Get a Bama Tune and select the "Turn off Skip-Shift" option. (No I don't work for AM! haha) The V6 automatic transmission has a skip shift in the software that automatically skips 2nd and 3rd gear! (It helped them achieve their 32mpg benchmark) Once I had the bama tune, no more clunky auto shifting.

Idk if thy would do it. My fluid is fine and I figured it did that cause when I counted the gear shifts and it didn't add up to 6. Mine too had this weird shifting pattern at low speeds.
