Is anyone using the K&N drop in air filter?

I ordered a K&N drop in filter for my 3.7 V-6 and was wondering if anybody is using this instead of a CAI.

I'd imagine the gains would be extremely minor. What about fuel economy? Any increase there?

Re: Is anyone using the K&N drop in air filter?

I think the power gain will only be at high RPM's

I just think it would trap smaller dirt particles. K&N has been around for such a very long time I'm guessing they must be doing something right with the way they make their filters.

was considering getting one of these once my current paper filter hits the trashcan... I've always like K&N products

I thought they allowed more air in because it was less filter and people bought it for the free sticker.

Have one. Didn't expect or notice a difference over paper.

I've heard since they allow more air; they also allow more dirt into your engine. It makes sense. I don't mind using an old fashioned paper filter.

Re: Is anyone using the K&N drop in air filter?

What they are noted for is More Air flow and less dirt because they use cloth and not paper. They have a layer of Filter Oil that traps the very tiniest particals.

Ford Racing actually helped develope the Filters for the New Mustangs.

I put one in my car today and with my other mods think I definitely feel a little umph between 3,000 and 5,000 rpms but I am not denying it could be a placebo effect. Still, my car feels like it flies a little easier.

Re: Is anyone using the K&N drop in air filter?

Check this Link.

2010-2013 MUSTANG GT & 2011-2013 V6 HIGH-FLOW K&N / FORD RACING AIR FILTER | Part Details for M-9601-MGT | Ford Racing Performance Parts

It shows where Ford & K&N co-engineered the producing of the K&N filters for the V6 Mustang and probably most other Fords.

It is a pretty good indorsement for using the K&N filters.

American Muscle sells them cheaper and Forum members can get a discount with the code from them. I got mine from AM and it was shipped very fast at no shipping charge.
