Headers

For my next mod, I was looking at LTH, Xpipe, and a tune. I keep hearing that neither upgrade offers any real hp gains. Is there any truth to that? Between the three pieces it's around $1100. Is there anyone out there that has done these mods?

Re: Headers

not done...but heard from many locally they were disappointed after spending all that money.....but if you get a dyno tune...appearantly it helps all that out...
They do that here at Mustang Week with a portable dyno rig...
Once my warranty is up.....oh yeah...slimers getting in line for that...

I found a youtube video where the guy gained like 20whp, he is up to 315whp after lth xpipe an tune. So apparently these mods are a little pricey for a 20 hp gain. That's why we need more mods. We could get more than 20 hp out of these parts in conjuction with other mods, like intake manifold and cams, even bigger better heads

Yeah gained 20hp but lost some torque. Wish he would've put up a graph to see how the curve was though. Their also wasn't any baseline runs to see where his car was at before any mods. Anyways, not worth the almost $1000 imo :/

Another thing to keep in mind is that our little 3.7L V6s aren't going to respond to mods like a V8 does. A 20HP gain from exhaust is actually respectable in retrospect. The same exact mods on a V8 will net you more gain for the same money, it's just a matter of physics really. Ever try squeezing power out of a 4 cylinder? It's rough and costs $$$.

Re: Headers

Exhaust just isn't worth the money on these cars for performance. If you change it, do the mufflers for sound and leave it alone. It even has a hybrid x-pipe from the factory that is like a H/X pipe combo that flows pretty well.

The only thing that would have me swapping headers in, is a supercharger setup that is going beyond what the factory exhaust can flow.

So true u may think your cars performance upgraded but it's just the sound since it sounds more aggressive. But either way my new exhaust is my favorite mod by a long run.
