Hey everyone! I'm new to this thread and you guys, but not new to Fords or Mustangs
My Mustang is the 3rd Ford I've owned, the first being an Escort, and the second was a Ranger. I got my Kona Blue baby in September 2009, not long after the 2010 was released. I test drove an auto V6 but was wanting more from it. I got a 5-speed...and this was my first ever. I learned very quickly how to drive a manual and hit the road!
The first mod I did to the stang was an SLP Loud mouth exhaust system. It's got an x-pip and no mufflers, which means its straight piped and it's just as noisy as the name says! The 2010 didn't have dual exhaust, so in the pics you can see how that all went up.
The second mod I did was a BBK CAI from AM. I like it because it didn't require a tune, and there isn't any filter oil required like the K&N I had on my Ranger previously. I found out on my own how the oils can clog up the MAF sensor over time, even if you use minimal oil, so I was against getting a K&N in my new baby.
The third mod I did was a set of 3.73 gears in the rear axle. This made the biggest change in power yet, and I felt it immediately. Best new toy ever.
The fourth mod I did was an SCT 3000 series tuner. I got it set to fix the speedometer issue from the gears, increase the speed and rev limiters, and programmed it with a performance upgrade just to where I don't have to change to a higher fuel grade and can stick with 87.
That's it for now! I have plans to build it up more of course, but that's way down the road. What I've got now is enough to last me for a while in fun.
Later on I want to get an 8.8 axle with 4.10 gears, performance cams, new heads, and supercharger. More little changes here and there, but these are the big things.

Excellent start! Those 4.0's can be quick if done right. You should definitely upgrade to the 8.8 when you get the funds. I wouldn't trust that 7.5! Any plans for wheels? JimC on here had his 4.0 vert supercharged and was in the 12's I believe? Also recommend some suspension upgrades down the line. GL with it!

Haha! Thanks! I think I've done well with my little 4.0 so far and no, I don't trust the 7.5 rear to last all that long or at all if I do anything else to the engine. Gotta build it from back to front!! Nah, I haven't got any plans for the wheels yet. I'm leaving the stock 18's on until later down the road when I do more mods. People keep telling me to lower it too, but no way...not with these Virginia roads! Even getting in and out of my driveway I scrape the nose if I'm not careful.
Anyhow, thanks for the props and support! ---------- Post added at 08:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:21 PM ---------- Quote: |

Oh yeah, and welcome! | Hahaha!! Those pretty much are! Ok, I'll confess though that the Escort wasn't my first car, just my first Ford. My first car was a Chevy Cavalier :/ it didn't survive long in a Ford-dominant family like mine- it wrecked and died within a year lol ---------- Post added at 10:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ---------- Quote: |
