I got a $30 dash cam...

From ebay, video quality is not that great but hey its $30. It turns on and starts recording automatically and divides video into 2 minute chapters and when the card is full it goes back to the first chapter and continues from there. It apparently states it can shoot in 1080 but its not much better than this video which was 640 res. It has IR LED's for night vids, Ill try that some time. Later on I will get something better, but its nice to have some sort of proof if some *** Hat decides to try and blame me for something. It also could catch a hilarious moment. Here is the you tube link I just posted it so it may not work yet

And some pics, came with the mount and a super long DC plug and cable, just tucked it above the windshield, down the door jam, over my feet, and under the center console to the 12V plug. Used some foam pieces to hold it in place above the dash. You cant see wire except for around the mirror.

Quick shot i took today :p

Not too bad for $30! I might pick one up for when I run the tail of the Dragon.

Just a little heads up, if your state doesn't allow radar detectors and you roll next to a cop with this up in the window, you may get pulled over lol. I had a cop pull me over for mine. I had the windows down and he saw it when he was next to me, scooted over behind me and flashed the cherries n berries at me. It was funny because once I told him what it was, he was like a little kid asking me to turn it on and show him what it does haha!!

I got mine from www.brickhousesecurity.com for $99 and it has an HD feature. Even with HD turned off it takes GREAT video feed. I think my brand is Trek.

Re: I got a $30 dash cam...

I think I'll just make a mount for my Sony Cybershot. It records 720p and does a pretty damn good job at it, I just never really use it.

Yeah but the beauty of a dash cam is it starts rwcording as soon as you start the car you dont need to press anything. Also it recordsin timed chapters once the card is full it goes back to the first chapter.

A dash camera may also come with motion detection. Mine has motion detection and night vision that are both on auto. So when it's mounted and turned on, if someone walks by it will capture the feed.

I got it because someone backed into my car at work and scuffed up my front bumper. Didn't even leave a note. And it happened less than a month after I had gotten my car back from the shop.

Yeah this one has IR leds for night and motion detection as well but in the end the video quality is what you pay for
