plastidip tail lights (2013)

I've seen this guy do his and they look pretty good its just he hasn't layered enough to block out the lights completely.
I'm thinking of doing 5 layers of plastidip with 2 heavy coats of vht. And I've got the tail light trim on my car already so I think it would look a lot more flush and ill probably end up plastidiping my decklid aswell : ) an Mabie tinting my reverse lights too.

That looks really good. Again, very nice job. It really came out great. Any light shine through the blacked out areas?

Thanks guys! No bleeding I did 2 thin layers to make sure the stencil I made would lay flat then I continued with 4 really heavy layers. I had my girlfriend step on my brakes after each layer to make sure they diddnt show.

Hahaha thanks for the compliments everyone! After looking at the tail lights during the day I was thinking of getting the tint off American muscle and redip them that way it hides the red lenses and doesn't look as tacky. What ya guys think??

Why not get the tint, dip it with a layer or two and cut it out to fit? That's what I'm going to do

---------- Post added at 12:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 PM ----------

I'm gonna get the tint put the whole thing on redip it and put my bezles back on that way it looks a lil more realistic.

Re: plastidip tail lights (2013)

question...anyone use this on paint...mess up, peel off and try again??? Curious to what it might do to the paint if I did my lip spoiler in plasti dip (ala boss 302) and then if ever got messed up..peel it off. Thoughts..?

Don't you still have to cut the tiny to get the 13 look?

You don't cut the tint at all. The reason for the tint is to hind the red lenses to make them look more legit when you plastidip the centers to get the 2013 look. And the bezles finish off the look to make everything flush well atleast that's my opinion...

It does nothing to the paint. There is a guy that does dipyourcar or something like that on youtube. Watch his stuff, he shows how to do all kinds of things with it. He's painted his Audi A8 four times with plastidip I think, and peeled it off and redone it every time. No damage.

Until I can afford my carbon fiber hood ive been drooling over...might give the hood a 71-73 Mach 1 blackout treatment (see those pics I sent you of the Mach 1 hood a while back Sanguin)

I thought the tint was just around the red part and you would have to cut the 1/4 inch around or however much it is to get the regular lens to hone to give it the look

If you tint the whole light it gives it the more 13 look because the whole light is black
