Auto to manual

So I drive a auto 2011 v6 and wanna change to manual. Do you think it's possible to change a used one without adding money?

My mustang is: premium 33k miles white add a Shelby spoiler. Lol

For such a new car, it's not a good idea. Too much cost with not enough benefit IMO. If you want a manual, trade yours in for a manual.

Trojan Horse is just getting started.
Re: Auto to manual

I'd keep your auto trans. Aren't the shift points and firmness easy to adjust with a tuner?

I've been considering a manual myself. I love the auto as I'm often lazy lol but do miss a manual sometimes. If I did though, it'd be a GT with recaros & track pack

+1 Purchase a tuner. The cars with the auto trannys see the most performance gain all around.

Re: Auto to manual

SCT from AM, so you get Bama tunes which they will keep adjusting for you as long as you own your vehicle. It allows you to tune for future mods.

The cheapest, and what most people around here buy is the SCT SF3/X3 with Bama tunes for life through AmericanMuscle.com. You'll fill out an online form at the time of purchase and they ship it to you with 3 custom tunes for your car and any mods you have.

Re: Auto to manual

FWIW, I've done an engine swap before in my Grand Prix. Stuff like that is not for the feint of heart. If you pay someone, it's going to cost quite a bit too. With a car this new, just sell it and buy a manual. You'll thank yourself in the long run.

i'd trade in as well. i have a 2011 V6 standard and i absolutely love it.. totally different car from the auto. when i test drove the auto my mind was set to save up for a GT. but then i drove a standard and it was good enough for me.. until i can upgrade to a GT later... lol

A dealer just told me I need to add 7500 for a 2011 manual performance package v6. It has 22k miles on it. Is it worth?

Re: Auto to manual

No way, Tell him you will pay $4,000 out the door. I think that $7,500 is ridiculously high. I would stick to $4,000 and not a penny more. I'm pretty sure they would rather have an automatic to sell. For $7,500 you should be able to almost trade for a 2012 with the Ford incentives they have going now to get rid of them.

7500??? What are they giving you for your car vs the other? That sounds like a ripoff though.

+1. If your going to take a loss on your car why get the same performance? It'd be a waste of money imo.

Because the car is not in the state, 7500 includes the shipping. And he showed me the other one, 6k miles but it's the base model. Same price as the performance package one. But 22k miles. And they giving my car for 18000 with 33k auto

Hopefully we get paddle shifters in 15. The shifter in the 13 is cool because you can select gears but it just seems a bit weird with the little button on the side of the shifter. Maybe you'd get used to it but it just seems odd imo :/

Re: Auto to manual

I'm pretty sure that Washington has a few Genuine Ford dealers that you can drive to and make a trade in deal.

Why would you even think of blind trading a car?

Re: Auto to manual

If I ever swap or upgrade my Mustang, I'm going to the dealer I bought mine from new and going to lean heavily on the fact im a returning customer to get a good deal. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it though.

Re: Auto to manual

Why is it a leg work out? I'm DDing my MT82 right now. I've been in stop and go traffic before. My left leg doesn't really get tired and I've been driving it for less than a month. Then again, I do climb ladders all day at work.

Lol, I know how you feel man. I've thought about trading mine in for a 5.0. I still do. But when I really think about it. It's just not a good financial move. Would taking a loss on your car be really worth a shifter alone? To me, no but if you feel you can't live w/o it then by all means.

I am still thinking. Wanna change 2013 stick but sometimes wanna change 2011/12 stick. And I can't do the monthly payment stuff since I am not a citizen here. But I like my car so much and I would love her more if shes manual. Lol
