Ghetto Intake I would have continued there but I couldn't edit the main post or add more attachements, so onward!
I told you guys the PCV line could be improved and I was sitting around thinking it had the same style attachment on either side... Bingo. Buy a PCV valve, gut it, and use it in the intake tube for a fitting. A call to my bud at the parts department at Ford and $6 later I had one.
First, remove the check valve. The bottom has a retainer you can remove to gut it. I just stuck a 1/4" ratchet extension in the opening and twisted. I was surprised how easy it came out. Of course, before this I tried beating the crap out of it from each end because I was unsure how the valve was installed. Anyway, that was simple enough.
Next, I took a section of pipe, marked the position I needed, drilled it out, then cut a hole with a dremel to match the pcv valve. I actually got such a tight fight I think the o-ring will seal it for me. I had to push rather hard to get it in. Later, I might put a bead of silicone around it or epoxy it, but it seems fine as is for now.
Fit like a dream. However, I noticed another issue. My air filter had come to rest on the ABS unit corner and it was eating into the air filter. To remedy this, I shortened the intake tube a bit and put zip ties around it and tethered it to the fender pulling it down and away from the ABS unit. I didn't want the filter vibrating against the fender eating paint off either, so I made a small cushion by folding a piece of the old PCV hose into a U shape and placing it under the filter nose. There are two perfect holes for this tubing to loop through to hold itself there. Hopefully, you can see it in the pics. Next, is figuring out an airbox. Enjoy!
