Battery drained after 1 week parked

I just got back from the cottage its been about 10 days since i started my stang, i had a nice long drive before covering it up in my garage. Being such a short time i figured id be fine. Today not even my key fob worked to unlock the doors...checked the battery it had 2 volts! Boosted it and went for a quick run on the highway, shut her down and had 12.2v, and restarted just fine, seems ok now.

I bought a trickle charger for $20 at canadian tire, wondering everyones opinions on when i store my stang for 4 months in the winter....trickle charger or store battery indoors?

As for cause, the only thing i can think of is my dashcam, which plugs into dc...but it should turn off with ignition, so clueless. Ive seen battery drain issues from electronic rustproofing systems but i dont have one.

Re: Battery drained after 1 week parked

If the battery went down that fast, it's either bad or you have something in the car draining it. You can do amp pulls with a DVoM and find out if something is staying on pulling it down though. Standard advice for all modern cars is to d/c the battery before long term storage or slap a really low amp charger on it like a battery tender.

Battery Tender plus
and some "Stabil" gas conditioner.

The best things you can do for your car if storing for a long time.
