Ok. Been trying to get that dum tuner updated on my computer and got it. Now it says it can't find my tuner. It's plugged in right here! Not a happy camper -_-

Haha. That made me laugh. I've restarted it. I even decided to try all the USB ports (note its a newer computer) and this is my first time hooking it up to the computer.

I don't own a tuner. So can you reset that somehow without erasing the tunes? Did it come back up

Re: Tuner Frustration

Call the place where you bought it and talk to a tech before you SNAFU it.

Oh wait. I read somewhere in the 2010-1013 GT forums on here that bama is doing an update or something. Go look my friend. That post saved me $370 on a tuner since I didn't want the hassle yet.

Re: Tuner Frustration

plug it in the pc.
right click on 'my computer'
click manage.
click device manager.
top line should say somethin like blah blah-pc. right click that
click scan for changes.
That should make it look for new installed hardware.
if it doesnmt, scroll to the bottom of that list and click it (universal serial bus devices) to expand it. then right click that same thing and scan for hardware changes.

This should help the PC recognize that it has a new device attached.

Re: Tuner Frustration

<----This computer geek took her tuner to a shop and let them program the tuner for this reason lol! I didn't have the first clue about programming my SCT and wasn't about to mess something up. Good luck with yours though, hope you get it figured out. Only thing I can suggest is getting the tune from the SCT site and downloading that to your computer first, then maybe your computer will recognize the device? On my tuner instructions it says the first step is downloading the software/update first BEFORE plugging in the tuner. Then you go to your email and save the tune files that were sent to you, saving them to your desktop. If you need more info I have the full instructions still...but they should have included them in your box with the tuner.

Oh, and I just thought of another reason it might be having issues opening, if you have a newer Windows version that might be a problem. The first question I'd ask the company is if the software they sent is compatible with your Windows/Mac version...not sure if there is any difference but that's an idea.

Re: Tuner Frustration

<- Also a computer geek that has built several computers.

Honestly, your computer should be recognizing it the moment you plug a USB device in. Even without the software it should be prompting that new hardware was found. You are hot-plugging it, right? That means doing it while the computer is on, not plugging it in then booting the computer up.

silvrbullet2012,

Were you able to get everything straightened out yet? Give Bama a call and they'll be able to hook you up with a direct contact at SCT. Then they'll be able to walk you through the process or see if there's anything defective in the device. Bama's direct contact is in my signature too!

I know this is really frustrating and I'm sorry you're even dealing with this to begin with. Let me know how you turn out!

Shane

I was just wanting to know if and one uses any other tuner other than bama. I see that every one is having problem with the tunes. I have use super chip and banks programmers before on other vehicles and never had any trouble.

I HATE when they sell you something that doesnt fit or work properly. They should stop selling it until they can make one that works. At this rate, no one is going to order any of these tuners anymore.

And I was just about to pull the trigger on one last week. I'll just give it a few months

Re: Tuner Frustration

Ive had plenty of handhelds, BAMA included in my day. I havent heard many issues on these, and this is the only one I see on here. Give BAMA the benefit of the doubt. If theres a prob with the unit, they will surely take care of it. Theyve been doin this for 10+yrs, theres a reason.

To the contrary. There is another post in the GT Forum that you should read about these. Apparently they don't just take care of it.
