Dumb Pullover

Ok this is a dumb reason to stop someone.

Cruising down the road chillin and I see a cop. No biggie just something I see and kept going. No reason to worry since I was on cruise control. Well he pulls me over and says he can't read my plate!!! Ok ya it's a lil DUSTY but completely able to read it.

I think this one takes the dumbest pullover for me.

It seems as if some cops pull people just to pull them over

Re: Dumb Pullover

lol well i guess if he couldn't read it then why not, but usually they use a reason like that just as a way to pull you over to look for other things.

You know, if after he took your info, he came back and said they were looking for a late model blah blah, that might not be so bad.

It's just a dumb reason. I've been pulled over before cuz there was a robbery and had a silver mustang. Didn't belive the guy till it came out in the papers. Another di$& cop in town now.

Re: Dumb Pullover

i don't see a need to belittle the officer for doing his job. there's usually a reason you get pulled over. now if he had other reasons he didn't tell you big deal. don't act like a child and call him names because it slowed down your day a bit.

If he just pulled you over to tell you that your plate was too dusty then that should just be an "ok i'll dust it". Did he give you any ticket? It does seem like a stupid reason to be pulled over, but how else would he have gotten your attention i guess?

Re: Dumb Pullover

no if the OP got a ticket he'd be crying about it in the first post. one thing i hate is someone complaining when the got off with a warning. i've been pulled over more then i can count on two hands. some of those times i don't agree with them, but others i do. however i never felt the need to insult the officer

Re: Dumb Pullover

why's it make you mad to get pulled over though? i mean it happens so why let it get to you. think of it as a 15-20 minute break from driving.

Also, many officers will feed off of your demeanor. If you act all pissed, they are gonna go with it and make it worse. Or, label you a hot head and pull you over when they see you. One of my friends can't keep his mouth shut and pisses the cops off all the time. He just can't help it I guess.

for you maybe, but for them it might have bigger reasons backing it so don't just think of yourself in that situation. unless you're dying and needing to get to the hospital then if you ask they'll just give you an escort

i've gotten warnings every pullover...i'm trying to make it to 25 without a ticket so my insurance will plunge

i've found that being easy going with any officer will help since they normally just get crapped on by people. (i've been pulled over by local PD, Sheriff, State Troopers, and Constables)

Yup, I'm always that way too. It seems to defuse whatever had them pissed off before pulling my a$$ over.

I had this happen for my tinted plate cover. You could see it just fine and the car in front of me had one. But since it was so low and the black surround I had he had a semi good point. But I didn't take it off and later that day the same cop saw me at the gas station. He just waved.

Re: Dumb Pullover

Cops have a job to do. Pulling you over for a "dusty plate" isn't one of them... You guys are defending the cop, but you don't realize that the cop could have been saving someone's life instead of harassing someone else.

I'm not a teenager, either.

and what makes you think the officer wasn't looking into something that envolved a car like OP or a plate that looked close to another plate but due to dust he couldn't be sure. The problem is that people that complain don't think about what's happening behind the scenes. Although if crying over getting a warning makes OP feel better more power to him

The stereotypical cops are evil is true around here. They target sports cars and anyone without the 62 county tag. I know it sounds bad but it's true. My uncle and 1st cousin both work on the force.

Personally, I don't like having my time wasted. When I'm driving somewhere, there's usually a point to it. If the cop is going to detain me for an imaginary reason that they made up, that would irritate me.

I also don't like being lied to. If the cop pulls me over for no reason, and then feeds me a lie he just concocted out of thin air, that's going to turn the irritation into anger.

I don't think anyone's "crying". I think the op has a legitimate complaint. While you give the cop the benefit of the doubt based on whatever your imagination can dream up in the cop's defense, I'll deal with facts. At this point I think you're either biased, or naive.

That's actually kind of funny in a way I would never think of there actually being a day where a cop thought I was the guy robbing some place haha
