just got my 2012 mustang ;-)

Just bought my first brand new mustang 3.7 v6 black standard and I was looking for good hp/torque and mpg mods. I was looking at airaid cai and 73mm bbk throttle body. But since I am new would like some helpful advice on what is best.

Nice! Welcome! Get yourself some axel backs and a tune as well. But don't get a tune if you wanna maintain your warranty. The tune will void it.

Re: just got my 2012 mustang ;-)

welcome and yeah you have to decide how deep you want to go into modifying. Increasing airflow and getting a tune will help out the throttle response, power, and mileage depending on what tune you use. As Primer stated get some axlebacks so you can get a nice rumble to it.

Thank you and yeah I wanna keep my warranty atheist for nice since I have been hearing about mt82 issues. For exhaust I want to make sure I get the right sounding one since it already sounds good some people thought it was a v8. Wouldn't want to change to the wrong setup and make it sound like a 6 lol.

Re: just got my 2012 mustang ;-)

yeah the best place to look up exhaust (even though it doesn't do it justice) is youtube. You can at least hear the notes that the exhaust is putting out and then just amplify that sound by about 10 and thats what the exhaust will sound like!!

When I got my car I knew nothing about how anything worked in it.
Now I know the basics to a lot of car/performance things. I guess it's good.
Except for your wallet :p

Thank you all and I just want to keep warranty until a safe mileage so if anything goes wrong in early miles it can be covered by warranty. And as far as mods exhaust intake tires gears stuff like that, nothing as far as going into force induction. Oh and Its also my first official car lol... and I am paying for it.

Re: just got my 2012 mustang ;-)

Congrats on your first car and welcome! Pretty cool to finally get your first car under your belt, eh? As far as mods go, go get a second job. lol Axle backs and a CAI are a great start if you don't want to void your warranty. Did you get the extended one, or just until 36k?

Re: just got my 2012 mustang ;-)

welcome, you can get good overall gains but at the cost of your warranty, its just not really worth it.

Do a few things like axle back, lower it with wheels etc then when the warranty is gone do the engine mods.

I got the factory one didn't feel the extended warranty was worth it considering I can do all mechanical work. Do you Guys think the airraid intake and 73mm bbk throttle body would be Good?

Mustang Addiction -

So freaking true. More dangerous than voiding the warranty. :-p

Re: just got my 2012 mustang ;-)

Congrats, lots of exhaust choices to choose from, Roush, FRPP, Magna, etc.. I have the Roush and love the sound. Paired with a CAI it is a perfect sound. Loud when you want and quiet enough if you take it easy.

Smart! I bought the extended warranty on mine back in 08 since the Warranty expired the 2 things that broke the dealer gave me a huge run around, I said screw it.

And as far as the throttle body is concerned I don't think it makes much difference the intake will make a difference.

I have a new 2013 v6, ive had it for less than 3 months (1600 miles) so the waranty is still in effect. I was wondering if getting exhaust from AM would void the warranty

Cat back will void it. Axle backs will not.
