Upgrade debate

So far on my 2011 v6 I have a cai, tune, muffler delete and lower control arms. I dont know whether to get axel back exhaust to be less obnoxious, front and rear sway bars, or gears. Any suggestions?

Get gears. 3.73. I too have a 11 v6. I currently have stock 2.73 gears. I have a airaid cai, sct bama 91 performance tune, Flowmaster exhaust. Next on my list is 3.73 gears.

Do you have a manual or auto? And the main use of my car is transport but I also occasionally take it autocrossing or to the drag strip

I have a auto. I don't track race or 1/4 mile track race so 410's are not for me in my opinion. I use my car for public road use and 3.73 is all I would go for my particular driving habits. It depends on what you want. From my understanding and research 3.73 gears is a great all around gear especially since our stangs have that new 6 speed. My recommendation is to go with 3.73 if you drive majority public roadway and occasional track race. If your building a track car then 3.73 gears won't be the best for you.

Get axle backs for the love of peaceful animals and your neighbors. I would go 3.73 gears or 3.55 if your wanting to still save some mpg

No sane person that uses their car daily would get 4.10s. As stated, 3.73 is the standard performance pick and 3.55s still add oomph with a bit of mpg+ I'll probably end up with 3.55s myself, because I do plan to boost it some day.

Yeah I'm between 3.73 and 3.55, I don't remember where I heard it but I've been told 3.55 are better for manuals

Is there any point going from the performance package 3.31's in the 2013's to 3.55's? Is that too small a performance increase to be worth the money spent?

I'll temper this with the fact that I'm definitely not a car guy. My Mustang is the first "fun only" car I've had in 15 years.

I'd say no, not worth it. Stick with what you got, especially if it's a DD. This is why I didn't get the PP when I bought mine. I knew I was going to upgrade my gears and 3.31 wasn't good enough for me.

Of coarse you can. Traction would be the issue though. I'd think stock 2.73 gears would be good with FI. So you could drive around town and not feel any difference in MPG's and when you need some power, you step on it! But 3.31-3.55 would be my limit if supercharged.

I understand. With 3.73 gears and the addition of supercharger trying to control the tires from spinning may be challenging.

The stock 2.73 gears got to so go in mine. I'm hoping that there will be a noticeable feeling of acceleration by stepping up to 3.73 gears

There will be a huge difference with a 3.73 from the stock 2.73, I think Im going to go for the 3.55 to be able to get decent mileage still. I drive from south Carolina to Nebraska at least 2 a year

Would be minimal. I believe 3.73's will put you at 100rpm more than the 3.55's. Which isn't much at all.

Has anyone ever collected some real world numbers regarding the different gears and put them in a chart or database for reference? Things like RPM's at highway speed of 70mph, and street speed of 45mph. Gas mileage over several tanks. Maybe even cabin decibles. That would be a cool reference to have on the site.

When my warranties run out, I'll likely move to the 3.73's for just that little bit more oomph from 0 to 60.

I believe American muscle has the a layout of the rpms for different gearing

American Muscle does have the chart for rpm's with different gears but nothing that compared MPG with different gears. I can't believe that there is a big MPG difference between a 3.73 compared to 3.55 or 3.31 gears. If someone is traveling 20 to 30k year on there stang then one may want to just stick with the 2.73 gears if MPG is their ultimate concern

i cant handle the stock 2.73, hitting the stock speed limiter in third gear is kind of ridiculous
