Tint will usually run anywhere between 120-200 depending on where you live. And what color interior do you have? The darker your interior the darker it'll make your tint look.

And on a side note, congrats on your stang! Don't let people upset you just because your a young owner, they're just jealous a 16 year old has a car just as good as the one they didn't/couldn't get till they were older ;p

I'm from the great state of Illinois and legal here is 35% all the way around with a 6" windshield strip. I went with 35 on the front and did 20 on the back with no windshield strip. It looks fantastic to me and would recommend it.

I have black cloth interior! And thanks! I'm glad it's my first car. It really has the pick up and go that most teens probably shouldn't but I think it teaches responsibility veryyy quickly. It definitely changed my attitude towards driving.

Re: New mods

I have 35% all around. Darkest I'd go with having great visibility and with a black interior it looks darker.

TX law says 25% sides and anything on back glass.

Is 35 darker or lighter than 25? I'm new to the tint world, cut me some slack

Re: New mods

35% is lighter. The % is the amount of light let in. My '10 Malibu I had was 15% and it was horrible to see out at night or when backing up. I have no such issues in my Mustang with 35%.

That's what I was thinking the percentages meant. Thanks for your help! I wish there was a way to see what it would look like before I get it done

Re: New mods

Browse the thread with car pics of mods, you'll see a lot. Here's a couple of mine with 35%. The rear windows look way darker due to the black interior.

love it hahah!

I have 35 all around. I have had 20 on the sides and 5 on the back before. way too dark at night if you have to back up. 35 is perfect IMO and you wont get hassled. I am sure any installer will be able to hold up different shades and let you choose. Look at it in sun and also in the shade if you can.

Good luck!
Make sure you have a pretty deep pocket, because modding your car gets addictive.
And expensive.....

Thanks! And I don't have a job right now because my mom has a broken leg so I'm basically her ride everywhere so being jobless I'm also moneyless and don't look at mods

Re: New mods

Good luck with your mod's. Had my first stang at 16 as well, however I didn't get another untill just recently. Nothing like waiting 32 years! Like you now it is time to Mod.

Re: New mods

Haha first off congrats on the mustang bstonk, loving the color!! Got my new 2012 mustang just a couple of months ago and I'm only 17... Early graduation gift, since my 04 one got hit by a bus... Oh the luck, haha.

I agree with everyone as well, just go with the tint for now... Planning on doing that next to my car. So far have louvers on and an intake, and it already makes my car stand out. It's great because where I live, our city is just Mustang Central so got to make our ponies stand out from the herd

Or if you wanna get crazy with it you can go to Dipyourcar.com, TONS of cool plasti dip goodness lol and for instructions or ideas just YouTube Dipyourcar. Lots of instructional videos from the guy that runs the website.

Or when you hit a truck like me. It takes away from the entire car so all your hard earned money going into the appearance is now a waste. Live and learn.

Agreed sir. Just because you're young and have a new car doesn't mean it's your parents money. They only helped me out on tax and title basically. I'm making payments and insurance. Most people that call the young owners "rich" don't own such a nice car if any, or just don't know the meaning of work. Mostly the latter of the two.
