Change gears before build?

Hey guys, just wondering if I could change the gears that go on the car out of the factory before it is built on the 13th or am I stuck? Also, is my only other option the 3.31 rear end or are 3.55 and 3.73 options also? If 3.31 is the only option disregard the first question and this thread in general and call me an idiot.

And whether you can even get the 3.31 depends upon the total options you choose. They were not an option at all when I ordered my convertible - can't get them from the factory that way, only with the 2.73

Re: Change gears before build?

Maybe they lock out convertibles, but I could have paid $400~ for them on my base model.

I was going to say the same thing. While looking at a local dealer to see some colors in person before ordering my car (GHIG, and Red Candy specifically), I saw a V6 Premium Coupe in GHIG, and no performance package. The only options listed were the GHIG paint, and $395 for 3.31 gears. That made me scratch my head a little since I've never seen that as an orderable option on the Ford website.

As a side note, the pictures you see on the interweb don't do justice to either the GHIG, or the Red Candy paint. You definitely have to see them in person to appreciate them. I didn't think I'd like the green at all until I saw it on the lot. The GHIG and RC tri-coat paints for '13 are very cool.

Re: Change gears before build?

Yep. I ordered mine before actually seeing the color, because I couldn't find one locally. But it reminded me of the lime green colors used on '70s muscle. A week later I ran into one at a dealership and I loved it, and I knew I'd made the right decision.

Re: Change gears before build?

Do you guys think the 3.31 option is worth it, or should I save that $400 and put it towards 3.55's or 3.73's after my warranty expires? I'm not planning on FI so I'm thinking I would probably be better off with waiting.

My 2012 base with automatic has the 3:31 option at $395,00. That's very little when making payments. I believe to get them in the 2013 you have to have the Premium Package.

Mines a DD so I love them. If mpg wasnt a concern the 3:73s would be fun.

It's a good price from factory and if you're financing then what is that? An extra $2/mo? For gears w/ labor from a shop should run you around $500 if you find the right place though.
