Adding LED light strips

What's the easiest or best point to wire led stripes to to get power from. I'd like for those LEDs to light up when I open my car door. So I guess I'm asking where the best power source is .

The last I head it was the domelights.

re: Adding LED light strips

So where would you find the wiring to wire the LED's into? as mentioned the dome lights. Those are way up there...Or do you go through the fuse box on the "Dome light fuse" ? Hope I dont sound too idiotic lol..

That could possibly work but I would have to see if wiring right to the fuse would constantly draw power without a switch being on it .

I wired mine into the dome light I think. Whenever i unlock, open my doors, or turn on my dome lights my LEDs come on.

Got these installed yesterday and they turn on when I open my car door, unlock the car and have a switch so I can choose if I want em on or not when I drive. They're pretty cool and not distracting at all if you choose to drive with em on.

Was gonna do the backseats to but thought it might've been too much since these are already that bright.

That's what I experienced with my 02. I did the front in red with 4" led and it was bright enough. Smart thinking on the switch btw. Some cops are flip floppers about it.

The brand I got was called oracle lighting. Just two led bars that are about a foot long that go under the dash then you gotta mess with all the wiring. Had a friend do mine since he knows how the wiring stuff works. But look up places in your area and they should be able to do it. Idk how much they'd charge though. Another company that is big on these is led glow if u wanna check em out they're a bit cheaper.

Oh okay I'm familiar with Oracle lighting, thanks for the info guys! It'd probably be easier to just let someone else do it if the labor cost isn't too bad, wiring gets me frustrated haha and how'd you come about that company sponsoring your stang Sean? That's awesome!!

Well that's pretty cool!!! And oh okay vs the other option of running them to the dome? What you've got sound much easier, I'm looking into that. Thanks!

HID Unlimited gives all ME Members a discount, and most times, free shipping!! I never use the tubes, i use rolls of LEDs, that way i can simply cut to length. Sometimes you need a 2" piece, sometimes you need a 2 foot piece. Here's a couple pics of a car I built for someone over the last few months:

Some of these were taken while the car was under construction, so ignore the untidiness lol.

Notice the EQ is not sticking out, it is recessed with an LED strip under the face shining down. The switches control the ambient lighting, and the line lock....

Line Lock light on the console pillar...

And the link in my sig is for HID Unlimited
