This sounds like a great thread. I don't have a auto but the look is a great idea. I've seen in other older stangs. But also seemed a lil high. But let's see this After your done!

I used Silicon on my old PT Cruiser. That way you can get it off again if you have to. Btw it's hill assist not down hill assist. It helps going up his as well. Keeps the car from excessive shifting going up hill. In fact my service adviser today said it won't hurt the tranny to use hill assist around town for better throttle response, hold in gear longer and engine breaking.

The overdrive button (hill assist) can simply be cut and relocated to a 99cent swotch from radio shack

So, I'm thinking, get a simple toggle switch and hook that up, let it securely hang if that makes sense. take the boot and tuck it under the aluminum piece except the gear indicator and drill the hole bigger and use silicone to glue it on. Hopefully I don't crack the ball.

That's a lot of wire. I'm gonna wait for the write up you do before I tear my shifter up. I can't get it off :/

I know you're probably thinking, bro I'm not here to hold your hand. Did you take the chrome plate and stuff up too of just the t handle piece. Also how far down do I need to push that little chrome piece?

Like ok, mine doesn't go down as easy as you're making it sound. One section will come down while one side stays up. I can't even see the screws so I'm thinking of taking the chrome ring an all that up and work from there.

With mine you feel a clunk when it goes into gear so it's easy for me. Also just let the brake slip some and you'll find out really quick what gear you're in lol

Sounds like a fun project. Personally I like the T handle and use hill assist alot. But a bullet style stock auto shifter would be cool.

I know you state that you're not gay, but this comparison could lead to doubt...
I mean, what's it going to feel like when you just have the ball on there? Call the car Lance Armstrong? Of course, you could always just leave it plain, with no T or ball, and then you could have a shifter!!! Oh man, I could do this all day lol.
