I'm pretty sure you have to take the whole thing out. Square trim first, then bottom plate, etc. no way of getting to the actual shifter without taking it all apart

Figured it out last night, u gotta use a flat head (or somthing) and get in between the silver pieace and the t handle, the silver piece pushes down and theres 2 screws u take out ad it comes right off

Well, if u take the t handle off, its just "stick" type thing that presses down, so im gonna get a candy red shift knob with a 3/8 threaded hole (thats the size of the "stick") and ill have to drill a small 1/2" hole on the bottom so it will go over the metal tube, then itll just be as easy as, press down on the knob to move the shifter

Why hasn't anyone done this sooner lol. By silver piece do you mean the part underneath the leather of the piece where you're hand goes?

Hmmm, this is interesting. I was really into this a couple months ago and kind of dropped the ball on it due to frustration, but if it really is that easy, WTF!
So you're saying the T handle on our shifters right now is just threaded on with a 3/8 thread and just screws off? This is very interesting and you have to get this done now so I can see. hahha just kidding, take your time and I can't wait to see the install guide!

Can you use a type of apoxy or glue to keep the ball on? I keep re reading this thread and I keep brain storming. Also can't you just bump the gear into say something bad like N or R?

So will a hurst ball fit? Or do I have to drill. I'm asking you cause I plan on doing this all tomorrow maybe. I like to know everything about a project before I go tearing into a brand new car.

I didnt do it yet if u wanna wait till i have an exact answer im doin mine friday after work, but if u get one with a 3/8" threaded hole itll be perfect bc it will fit on the button part but ull have to drill a 1/2 hole to get past the solid bar

I read the 1/2" drill part and thought, why not just pop it on with epoxy. Probably get what youre talking about when i get it off tomorow. I just don't know what I'm going to do about a boot. Any ideas?

Ull see what i mean when u take it apart, ur gonna have to drill unless ur knob is a 1/2, the boot is the onlything im alil stuck on, i can get it under the chrome rectangle around the entire shifter, but then it hides the gear indictor and idk if i wanna do that or find another way to get it i have really brainstormed that yet lol ---------- Post added at 08:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:21 PM ---------- Quote: |
