Ping at low RPMs

Wondering if anyone has any ping at low rpm after custome tune. Running BAMA 87 street tune. Love the extra torq and throttle response but a little worried about ping.

Red Rover,

I'm sorry to hear about the Pinging your experiencing. This could be caused by a few things. Most commonly is a bad tank of gas or a clogged fuel filter. I would recommend throwing a little octane booster in your tank. If the fuel quality was below 87 then it could cause pinging.

There's also a possibility it could be related to the tune. Our tunes are good 99% of the time. Occasionally there are errors because we hand write each tune. I'm confident my Bama team will fix it quickly if this is the case! Majority of the time, its Small human error when filing your tune information form or by a Bama Member!

Shoot me a PM with your order # included & I'll have my head Tuning Specialist Mike Wilson contact you directly!

Hey Red Rover,

I just wanted to check up on things and see how you're making out? Was the pinging related to fuel quality or would you like me to get you in direct contact with Mike Wilson.

Thanks for checking back Dan. I just put some octane boost in today and will know tomorrow if it helps. I will keep in touch and let you know. Talked to a friend who buys gas at same place I do and he said he was having problems with rough idle so I am betting its bad fuel. Will it hurt to run 89 octane with 87 street tune?

Its more likely water in their tanks than actual bad fuel.

Red Rover,

Okay, yeah it sounds like you may just have a bad tank of gas. Running a higher octane then the tune requires is fine. However don't run a lower octane then the tune calls for that could cause detonation and pinging etc..

Your best bet is run some octane booster through to help that tank out and then fill up with 89 to get all of that crappy gas out of the lines.

Keep me posted!
