dealership

Just went to my dealership and asked what voids my warranty he said anything and everything.... except for a filter.... I was amazed at what he said then I asked about putting 3.73 gears they wanted to sell the gears themselves for 400..... with no installation included. I am starting to hate dealerships.

Dealerships are evil, horrible places UNLESS you have a personal reputation with the sales, parts or service department. And by personal, I mean personal.

My buddy bought a Camero SS from the dealership and it's only by virtue of his friendship with a few of the guys there.

Some dealerships will bend over backwards for your business while others don't care about you from the moment you drive off of the lot.

Warranty issues, however; aren't flexible or at the discretion of the seller. That's a rock/hard place situation... And Ford had gotten smart with the Mustang lineup, making virtually anything you do to the car a "warranty void" issue.

Where are you located?

Only 400 for gears?!?!?
i asked, yesterday, how much 4.10s would cost.
he said they'd have to be ford racing, and it would be 500 for gear and pinion.
I told him i could get it for 170 brand new. then they said 590 for install.
I'ma wait and c if i can pull some strings.

technically they can void your warranty for about anything they wish, honestly you can get away with little things at most dealers (dont go back to that one you talked to)

Im with you, I would stay away from that place. You can take your car to any ford dealer with a service department for warranty work, but it only takes one to void your warranty.

Exactly. Which is why I am very happy with my 06, low Km's car. Very.

No worry about warranties and no deceiving myself into thinking that I'll get the warranty coverage I would even if I had a warranty.

I live in south texas ived been to most of the dealerships here and they all seem to be the same except for my last one that I asked for how much they will sell gears for they finally gonna replace my hydro bushing. Yeha I told them I could get new ford racing gears for 150 guessing it be better if I went with a ford dealership that deals with performance?

I think most dealers try to steer clear of installing performance parts that they know they will have to warranty. They know that by giving you more power plus keeping your warranty valid there is more chance of you wearing out a part that they would have to fix under warranty. By jacking up the price, they deter people from using a dealer to install there performance parts and keeping everything warranted... You got to pay to play my friend, and this is just another way the system get's ya.

thats the way I see it at least.

I talked with the dealer across the street from where I work, the service dept manager told me I can change out whatever I want and it will still be under warranty, as long as I don't do anything with the computer. Which makes sense to me, but that also does limit a lot of what you can do. But I guess I lucked out and have a good dealer by me
