but the cats are too expensive so is it worth it to go with the off road pipe instead?

You can get universal hi flo cats on eBay for $50 or $60 a piece. Advance sells magnaflow ones for around $80.

it's against federal law to remove your cats, however, unless your STATE requires inspection, then you should have no problems removing your catalytic converters.

Removing cats is against federal law. Replacing cats is also against the law as they are designed to last the life of the car.

I know ppl remove them, hell my car does not have cats. Just supplying the facts..

Don't get cats. Of course it's against the law but it's not enforced that much because what fatass police officer is going to crawl under your car and check? none.

I'm sure it won't be very long before emissions inspections are nationwide, just keep that in mind.

me and schram1 are in Texas, where emissions inspections are year round. Your point is a good one because not everyone can get inspections without being checked for emissions. You just have to know the right shop or person.

If they are normal cats yes you lose like 10-15 HP if you have high flow cats you lose like 2-3HP and with cats your exhaust will be quieter with high flow cats you get the same sound as no cats

No they work just as normal just hi flow so emissions safe bro so ur check engine light will be fine. Ur exhaust will throw smoke for like 30 seconds while it does a first burn but after that it's great. You get great sound and performance and still legal

They don't sell them for our newer stangs bro. Also when it comes for inspection the car will not pass at all. If he has a tune the computer will say OBD2 not ready.

Cats should be illegal. They don't come when you call them and they shed everywhere.

I hate cats. The neighbors cat climbed on my car and its freshly painted stripes. Because of the wax, it slid off and I watched as its claws popped out and slid off the front of the hood. Oh and when I was maybe 10 I picked up my granddad cat, it clawed me

That's why I bought a pellet gun with scope. Done popped a couple. Didn't want to shoot em but not scratching my car or digging trash out. My 120 pound boxer/pitbull got one too.

No high flows are legal, they are essentially the same they just let the car breathe better but do the same job so as long as they do their job it's fine

How comes some hi flo cats are c.a.r.b. approved and some not? Does that make a difference or not?

Nope, don't do it! If you trade the car in, or sell it to a private individual without the cats, they can come back at you and sue, as it is a FEDERAL law to tamper or remove the cats. Even if you were to have the new owner sign a letter that states they are buying the car "As is", it's against the law for you to sell it that way, even if you bought it that way. You'd have to go after the previous owner if you bought it without cats, and now wanted to resell it. My son bought a truck from a used car lot. I was checking it out (nice truck), but noticed it did not have the cats. We took it back, and the dealer had to install the cats (or I gave him the choice to refund my sons money). He knew he broke the federal law by selling it to him, and promptly installed two new cats.

Federal laws over rule any state laws. Don't remove them.

Depends on the state. But just to be on the safe side buy ones that are approved

Just keep your stock pipe, just in case. Then sell the aftermarket one. Just an idea.
