Crazy Tuner problem

Soooooo today my friend Drake and I wanted to change his gear ratio cuz he just put in his 4.10's. on my tuner (SF3 X3 handheld) I can simply go into the strategy tune and change the gear ratio. We attempted to do this and the tuner program on his iPad (he has the wireless itsx tuner) crashed for some crazy reason mid tune and the car wouldn't start -____- we were ****ting bricks thinking he now has a 30k paper weight lol. We called bamma and they said they don't handle those issues and sent me to SCT. I told them what happened and they talked me through some trouble shooting and still nothing. So finally they made a recovery file which took 1 1/2 hrs to make? Lol well at first it didn't work then they did some mumbo jombo on their end and sent me another recovery file and still nothing.

At this point in the story me and my friend were thinking he was SOL and was gna have to take it to ford to be reprogrammed for 149.99!!!!!

Eventually the SCT rep called me back and told me to allow him a remote connection to my laptop so he can change the firmware on the tuner and upload a special force stock tune that would auto upload to the car once connected and the ignition turned to the on position.

So the rep did all that and FINALLY the program began to return his car to stock ^_^

My point here guys is just to stick to a regular WIRED handheld tuner. A Bluetooth connection isn't always the ideal way to tune a 25-30k car. It took 4 ours of waiting and trial and error to get the car up and running and he still couldn't even get the gear ratio changed he still had to call bamma for a new tune.

You can't use a tuner on multiple cars if I remember right. the tuner is "married" to your car when you first use it, maybe that had something to do with it

That has nothing to do with the problem if you read the paragraph correctly you will see that MY tuner is the wired handheld tuner and HIS was the itsx tuner. We have our own separate tuners

Ive had the same thing happen to me, but i have the same tuner as you, the handheld wired one. Midway through upload it crashed and left my car unable to start. Had to do the same thing, call sct, have them reset my whole tuner, linked computers, set my car back to stock finally, then upload the tune that should have worked the very first time. It took 3 days before i could even drive my car.

Ugh, I've only changed my tune 3 times in over a year. I get nervous every time I load a new tune. That's just something you have to expect as a possibility when doing things like this.

Lol... Reminds me of the time I was programming my Grand Prix and the laptop decided to shut down mid-upload for no damn reason. Car wouldn't start or anything. Luckily when I got the laptop back up, I just reuploaded to the PCM and all was well again.

I'm sorry about the inconvenience this caused you! Having the latest firmware on these devices is crucial or it can cause issues like this.

I'm glad to hear Bama & SCT were able to walk you through trouble shooting steps and get your friends car back up and running. Let me know if he needs us to send him a revised file for his gears! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Wireless is cool and all but there's so many ways the connection can be interrupted and cause critical failure
