Viynl wrapping mirrors

Who has done this and how easy/ hard is it? I just bought some performance white in 48"x12" I'm doing my mirrors. Should I use a all out heat gun or just a hair dryer? Never done this and even though the stuff was $9, I'd rather do it for 9 than 100 at AM.

Hmm I'd hit it with the heat gun to make sure it adheres. I love getting mine out!

Coty don't leave it on there for too long just flash it but for $9 what do you have to loose

Good thread! Is there a site out there that makes color matched vinyl wrap? I have the race red color, and would be interested in doing this to my mirrors if I could get an exact color wrap.

That's what I'm worried about myself. I ordered mine off amazon and it said performance white. I think I just got lucky.

I would use a hair dryer to start with. The vinyl should be sticky on one side already so the real point of using heat is to make the vinyl stretch over curves instead of wrinkle. Heat gun may be a little too hot and can easily melt thru the thin vinyl.

I used a hair drier it was plenty heat. And if it don't work and you put wrinkles in the vinyl don't throw it away bc when you heat it up it stretches out and goes away.
If you don't have any luck next time you are out this way let me know and ill give you a hand

Ill be up there in a week or two. Applying for the Mercedes plant in Vance. Hopefully gonna move out and live in the cottondale area.

So, if it wrinkles some, just heat it up till its soft and work it out? Curtin, what's yours look like?

Try this site.

http://www.metrorestyling.com/

They've got a wide variety of vinyl wrap.

I was looking for some green-laced carbon fiber vinyl a while back. I kept seeing that lime green stuff and didn't like it. I was hoping someone had made a version of that woven with black or dark grey so it wasn't so "in your face."

I'm looking to do my dash on the inside. I want something besides normal carbon fiber, but I don't want my eyes to bleed from the brightness. I'm looking for something a bit more subtle.

very nice curtain! best idea how to do that to the AM tail light covers for my 2013??? getting the trufiber tail panel and want them to match..as close as possible. Sanguin...using that green CF lime was talking about on the black surround for the pony gas cap, then black CF wrapping the pony emblem.....still tweaking..nothing definite...LOL

Hmm... Well, I've been thinking about my emblem too. What I have planned is to make the outer chrome ring black, color in FORD GHIG, paint the inner black piece GHIG, tribar pony black, then leave my green insert. Best I could come up with not going overboard. Plus, I despise chrome with a passion.

Tail light covers... you mean the MMD trim pieces? I looked at them for a long time and decided I wanted the rear to stay blacked out. They are very appealing though and match the body 100%.

It's a little more involved than just popping it off unfortunately. I sent him all the details on it a while back.

BTW, that dash looks amazing and I'm going to do something similar, except eliminate those chrome bezels. BTW, the only rattle my car has had since I've owned it, is in the left gauge cluster bezel. When the temps drop, it is loose and rattles. I can touch it and it will stop. I'll put some 3m tape under it when I do the dash to stop that.

Sounds good! I'd thought of leaving the chrome ring and doing the ford letters black as well. I just despise chrome haha.

when i got mine painted i was gonna have it black. but the guy at the paint shop said that it'd look good, but there would be adhesion problems. and it wouldn't be worth the trouble

the gt/cs spoilers look good. especially when you do a two tone type thing. I take it yours is GHIG and carbon fiber

well.....when it gets here (in route) its all carbon. if you look at trufiber's facebook...you'll see what they did to it for SEMA. im gonna try that underside look in the plasti-dip green blaze before mounting. if I dont like it...it can be removed and the all CF look will be it. removing the old spoiler...sigh, is gonna suck. thanks to many others doing this...got the how to already..but OUI!
