You must have stock 2.73 gears still on. Since I've upgraded to FRPP 3.73 I've been shifting up to sixth gear alot more on surface roads. I must admit I love the acceleration of the line now.

Did you leave your stock tires on. If so, you having issues with tire spin when punching it from a dead stop being that you upgraded to 3:73 gears.

I've upgraded my tires...now running 20's 255 35 all around. Upgrading the gear's send my rpm's racing on first and second gear. I get better launches with upgraded lower control arms. No wheel spinning for me.

My dad did that before when i was in the vette... He put it into 6th and just the idle of the engine was enough to keep it going at 40 lol.

But yea i don't understand why you wouldn't use 6th unless you are on streets... You use a hell of a lot less gas if you are at a lower rpm.

The reason i don't is cus i drive with the mpg screen on to see my consumption and its terrible on 6th since i don't live in flat roads. That's y i started the thread by asking where you guys live .. There's too many ups and downs on even the highways here and i would be way too low in the rpms ..

I live just outside of Cincinnati really in between Cincy and Lexington speed limits 70 hardly ever any cops such a rural area. If I'm driving to work ill chill about 80 hardly over 2000 Rpms in 6th gear but really if I slow to 75 I see my best gas mileage but any lower than 75 and I go back to 5th

gonna sound funny...but once I hit 2k rpm in normal traffic...get better mpg by shifting to 6th. if I need more power, ill drop back to 5th. this is helping me get 26 mpg around town in stop and go traffic. on the open road..like my 900 mile run to VA and back, I put it in 6th above 2500 rpm and still maintained 31 mpg for the whole trip at 80+ mph...

If I am in a 25 mph zone, doing 29 mph, I use 6th lol.

Unless you are TRYING to waste fuel, if you are cruising at a constant speed, you would be most efficient to run in your top gear. Any time I am not accelerating I hold top gear for the rpm.

Won't lie, didn't read all the posts but i have sone relevant input. yesterday i drove home from a business trip, the drive is around 4 hours long and i had plenty of open highway to play the game of best MPG and still keep a decent speed. I found that at 80 to 85 mph I could cruse in 6th and get around 32 mpg. The best mpg was found when I would accelerate up to 85 then set cruse and use the button on my steering wheel to decelerate to 75-80 mph I could get an average of 34mpg and at one point I was up to 36.4 avg mpg with the wind at my back. I was so impressed that I snapped a pic but its real out of focus since I was more concerned with driving than taking a good pic.... Also worth mentioning that the roads were relatively flat with few bridges.

Shouldn't be going over 90 unless its legal. I live in Germany and I use it every time I get on the autobahn, even though I only go 80mph. It's a highway gear where power isn't needed.

I think the stock 2013 comes with 3.33 gears but if you have the 3.73s you use 6th a lot

Stock is 2.73, option and performance pack were 3.31s.

I have 2.73s and hop in 6th any time I'm over 50mph unless terrain requires otherwise.

Yea i have stock (2.73) but its so many ups and downs that i waste more gas on 6th.. So i just cruise either 4th or 5th @2k.. I will be upgrading to 3.73 in the near future

I use 6th gear only on the highway doing 80 or so. When I drove back to northern VA over the holidays I cruised doing 80 in 6th gear and averaged around 31 mpg. I have the stock 2.73 gears though

You must not do much highway driving. If you did, you would not be asking this question, as you'd be using 6th to obtain the mileage gains from it.

I drive from Orlando to Tampa Florida 3 to 4 times a week. With the 6th gear, I get from 27.8 to 28.4 MPG, and that's with the 3:31 rear gearing.

I like that 6th gear.
