If you look on AM you'll see an AFE CAI and a Steeda CAI. They both allow more airflow then the BBK, so the HP benefit is greater. They both require a tune though.
Exactly what happened to me! I bought a none tune CAI and then was like why the hell didn't I get the CAI and Tuner combo -_- ended up buying the tuner later and a new CAI. I would recommend a JLT or Steeda
They are all pretty much the same. Amazon is the place to go. They are all sooo much cheaper. I got a 350$ K&N for only 290. You can check out in my album and I got it just for the looks alone. Plastic is supposed to bleed less heat then metal, but it doesn't make a big enough difference to out weigh how sick it looks haha. My opinion, get what you like for the money. performance is all going to be about the same.
I recommend JLT no tune needed. That is what I have...kinda regretting it because I have a BBK throttle body... I would have bought the BBK cai instead.
If you go the way of a CAI, buy one that requires a tuner, as the CAI by itself is a waste of money performance wise. On the 3.7.V6, the "non tune required" CAI's flow no better than the stock air box setup.
If you're going after a pretty engine compartment, or want sound when you stomp the drive by wire pedal, then any CAI will do for that.
I recommend the Airraid Cai and you want a tuner with it. You don't need it but if you want to get the most power from the CAI then buy the sct bama performance tuner.
there is on 2 brands that require a tune steeda and afe if the ones that required a tune were so much better then jlt and c&l would also make versions that require a tune virtually they will all have the same exact gains
All cai are the same... don't matter if requires a tune or not... cai helps with mpg and some hp and throttle response but for best results get a tuner youll see virtually the same gains compared to all others...
Just get a Tune required with a Tuner Combo. It has a larger diameter intake tubing and filter so ur car gets even more air then non tune required so u get better gains from it. If anyone says they're the same then they obviously don't know what they are talking about. Ask any intake dealer they will tell you the same as me.
I meant the same with power gains after the tune... the larger diameter will not change much if any unless used with other upgrades... its like a bbk 73mm ttb youll see gains but not much
good to go defnitly know what i want to get now since most post r recommending tuner required thanks to everyone for thoughts cuz i am looking for most out of a CAI preformance wise and all opions help so thank u
A.M. used the Airrad cai on there V6 project car. If it's good enough for A.M. then its good enough for me. Tons of positive reviews on this cai. I love it and they do work better with a tuner. But go with Airraid.
