No. Just back it up with sound. And copy the boss font and everything.

I vote for no word Boss on it. Just 227.

Let's step back for a minute, what does the BOSS stand for?
Isn't it a high performance version of the current setup?

From Wiki:

The Boss 302 Mustang was designed by Larry Shinoda, a former GM employee. The car featured reflective "c-stripe" and the fake rear fender scoops of the regular 1969 Mustangs was eliminated. Optional were black horizontal rear window shades and a blackout hood. It was one of the first production models with a front spoiler and rear deck wing. The name "Boss" came about when Shinoda was asked what project he was working on, he answered "the boss's car" because the project was a secret.[3] Also Shinoda had called it the "Boss" as an homage to the new President of Ford Semon "Bunkie" Knudson who had brought Shinoda over from GM when Knudson had left.

Okay, that's origins, but why has it one to mean? Over the various runs/ models of it

Not sureI understand your question. It still means the same as it was a name given to it just as GT = Grand Turismo

Boss was an expression in the 60's meaning Cool. Same as Bad, Bichin,Tits, Sick etc.

Yes that is the English equivalent but it comes from the Italian Grand Turismo.

What's that have to do with where the name came from? Much of English comes from other languages.
History history shows where the name GT came from and it was Italy. Grand Tourismo representing long distance racing such as Le Mans does in France. But Pontiac already had the name Le Mans.
The Ford Gran Torino is named after Turin Italy.
The Ford Pantera was an Italian/ford collaboration. You can say Grand Touring and still be correct but that's not the entire history.

That would be the first thing Id upgrade if I had a base model. Those stock 17s are just awfully ugly.

It's a premium... Wider tires than base model.
