Most of my driving is 65-75mph. I usually shift before 2500 too. But I was going through the gears last night after install, and just wanted them to know its 2500rpm in any gear.

No it makes sense I'm sorry your not crazy haha! I love the sound regardless and I don't focus on drone probably should though! I know it's nice its the way the 3.7 runs though

Pype-bombs are resonators basically. They are straight pipes with resonated tips.

I'm doing a 200 mile trip tonight hopefully it reduces the drone around 2500rpm. All other ranges r fine. The ultimate test tonight...dogs in back so seats r folded down, and wife is next to me....I'll let u guys know how it goes!

The pypes have resonators in them? To kill drone you need bigger resonators further up the exhaust piping.

I know but I'm wondering if anyone has welded set of resonators to these for extra resonating (if that's even a word) U have pype bombs w/ o/r h pipe right?? How's the drone with that combination?? Did it get worse with the o/r h pipe?

The major causes of drone aren't the mid pipe or the headers it's the axlebacks. So welding in some resonators in the mid pipe to alleviate the drone isn't going to help much when you have drone with the stock headers and mid pipe.

People with aftermarket headers/mid pipes add in the resonators to the tame the raspyness usually. Headers Nd a mid pipe by themselves don't cause drone, it's the muffler your running that dictates how much drone you have or not.

You could put headers and a o/r h pipe on stock mufflers and there won't be much drone. But If you put on a droney axleback system even with the stock piping you'll have terrible drone. It's all in how the muffler is designed, and because the pypes aren't mufflers, there will always be drone somewhere in the rpm range. That's the trade of for the very aggressive sound.

Every axle back drones. Even the stock ones.

Yo Fresh, did you have pypes on before your CAI/Tune by any chance?

Im wondering what kind of improvement to sound I can expect...I know theres going to be a nice power increase obviously. Just curious if the pypes continue to get better than what they sound like by themselves, and if so, how they change.

I had mine on before the intake and tune and the sound was a lot better but then when you put the intake on it really wakes it up!

I guess that's true depending on what your definition of drone is. To me drone is resonance inside the car ie things shaking and vibrating in the car.

Hearing the slightest hum of an engine note while cruising at 65 isn't really drone to me.

That's how the stock mufflers and the Borlas are. The Borla might have even less drone than stock.

Nah I had the CAI/tune 1st so I'm not sure how they sounded before. In sure it changes the sound because the CAI/tune really changed the sound of the stock so I imagine its the same for any muffler!

Got my pypes aligned by a ship today because they shifted and were rubbing. Here are pics of what happens when they run.

Use a wet cloth to clean it off as long as it hasn't set long.

Just completed my 300km trip...had seats down for my dog...the drone at cruising speed...2000-2500rpm was so bad my fiancee was covering her ears the whole time. It hurts my ears! I stopped and folded seats up....much btr. Tolerable. Its not annoyingly loud but loud. I know the drone is supposed to decrease as time goes but its liveable as is now...just never fold your seats down...seriously

Lol, I have roush and the drone was really loud on the highway. Now about 1k later and its gotten a lot better. Even my car pooling complainers have said its much better now. Give it at least 1-2k it should get better, my roush did.

That's vibrations lol

Drone is defined by a dull steady sound that isn't your exhaust but is it just ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ughhhhhhhhhhhh. Like that basically.

Drone to me is intolerable noise. Seriously I hated my car when I had the seats down. It was horrible.

Yeah I'm all stock lol I'm not doing anything else just maybe cai after warranty. Plenty loud for me. God damn does it sound great even on highway a nice rumble as long as seats r up. If they get s tad quieter during crushing speed it'll be perfect. I love hearing the exhaust pop when I engage the clutch into a downshift

I doubt it but I think exhaust is all I'll do until then to be safe. I hear there's some Cai that require a tune which is what I'd go for
