I would only put Ford racing geas in my car. People who hear a whine need to take there car back to the shop and have there gears adjusted. I got my 3.73 gears put in at Steeda, no whine at all. NONE. my rear end is dead silent.... i used ford racing

Did you do the American Muscle-recommended differential rebuild at the same time?

Sorry for all the niggling questions. I don't like surprises when it comes to my ride.

nah. I bought my parts from steeda when I went to have the gears put in. The tech inspected each part closely and determined that the rebuild was not necessary. If the rebuild was needed it would have been another $100. That is one of the up-sides to having the work done there, all I have to bring is my car and my tuner to load a tune on to account for the upgrade I am having done. They have all the parts and pieces there that I could ever need.

I went through the same dilemma last year. My decider was the fact I didn't want a V8 without creature comforts. The GT was 10k more with the same options and after driving both I felt the V6 was more than enough power to satisfy me.

That's where the fun really began. No V6 is out running a GT in a straight line but we don't always drive that way. My theory was beat them into and out of the corners and race the straights.

I've added a full steeda suspension that blows the GT away and a bama tuner with steeda CAI. Run constant 13.7s on stock 18" tires. I just added 3.73s and I'm ordering my DS next week. With Nittos and lighter rims I hope to see 13 dead or high 12s. Similar setups have produced 4.5 0-60 but I'm still working on my launch.

Good luck with your choice. You'll love whatever you get.

I personally wouldn't waste the 1700 dollars on the performance package to get the 3:31 gears and the GT suspension. If majority of your driving is typically in a straight line then you won't utilize the upgraded suspension. The suspension in the base model is awesome. Because the car lacks some down low torque the car really should have at least 3:55 gears but mainly 3:73 gears. Save the 1700 on the performance package and install gears, performance tuner, cold air intake and exhaust. You will see an immediate difference in your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. The upgraded Gt suspension is sweet if your track racing or driving a lot of tight curves but the stock suspension is real good. I wouldn't even waist the 400 dollars for Ford to have the 3:31 gears as an option.
I am still not sure about the PP. It's a $1500 option in the 14's now. I guess I'd like the upgraded brakes, I really want the grill (I'd get it if I couldn't find a mustang that I liked with PP), the suspension is a plus.. I'd sell the tires and rims.

How much do you think I could get for the brand new rims and tires?

How much are the 3:31 gears going to lower my mileage and what performance gains would I get compared to the 2:73 (0-60 and 1/4)? The grill, brakes, and potentially the 3:31 gears (suspension would be nice) are probably the only thing I'd been looking into the PP for.

Then based upon what you want in your pony the PP sounds like a home run for you.

If you can't get a GT with the Premium package, get the V6 with it. It will be easier to sell down the road. You can already get a good idea about what your insurance will cost you. As far as gas, will this be a daily driver or a weekend toy?

I just love where everyone keeps asking for times in the 1/4. There probably aren't a lot of true drag strip cars in here.

If you want a real drag strip car, buy a Super Snake.

I'm talking Performance Package. The premium is already a must.

I'm getting 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. 2011 sixer. 91 hybrid tune, Airraid CAI, Flowmaster axle back force II exhaust system, 3:73 gears and one piece aluminum driveshaft. Also , have the factory stock Michelin 215/65/17 tires and have no traction issues or spinning tires on dry surface.

Is there a huge difference between 3.73 and 4.10 gears in terms of 0-60 times? I was kind of set on getting 3.73s but now a friend has me second guessing myself.

I don't have 4:10's but no regret with my 3:73 gears. I'm not track racing my car so no need for 4:10's.

4.10 is a bit much for a daily driver. Go 3.73, you will be plenty happy

What's been everyone's experience with performance times lately? Make sure to include the following: Gears, transmission type, any factory options, and aftermarket mods.

4.0 sec. full bolton. 4.10 gears. aluminum DS. full suspension. procharger. Dyno tune. automatic. I got 3.9 once but never got it again so I don't count that one. I get 4.0 - 4.1 sec consistently.

I don't drag my car, but I did a couple days of autocross lately so I can speak to the performance side of the question a little.

Last races of the season were in August, but I had an invitational one I attended last weekend. To explain a bit, this is a track (not a bunch of cones in a parking lot), too small for race, but too big for SCCA rules autocross. It used to be a really big go-kart racing track. This means you get a really great experience without the expense of having the club rent the big track or whatever.

I ran out of money to attend the big track driving event two weeks ago, but the $40 for the invitational I could do.

I have 3:73 gears, CAI and a few other mods I think are mentioned in my sig. My V6 is standard shift.

Conditions were rain, rainy, and sometimes standing puddles! So not my best times at the track, but I really got a chance to push handling to the max. On this track, I really wanted something between second and third, honestly because I was zipping right to the red line even when the puddles were getting really slick with oily stuff from so many races that day. So probably 3:51 or 3:31 gears might do a bit better there. Still, no denying the car jets into the high power/rpm range real fast!

I did run part of the day with traction control off but Advanced StabiliTrac on and the last half with everything off. For the track I will NEVER AGAIN leave any kind of traction control on!! Holy cow there is a difference. Do NOT run with it all off on the streets unless you know what you are doing. But that's off topic.

Overall, I'm still tickled to death with my 3:73s. For smaller autocrosses I think they will be absolutely perfect. They are Ford Racing brand purchased through AM, and did the diff rebuild kit. No whine, perfect function as near as I can tell. Dealer installed.

I'm running around 4.7 seconds. I think that's highly respectable and impressive for a 11 V6 with 297 rwhp.
