Toyota supra they quit making them in like 94. It supposedly is supposed to be one of the best cars of all time but I think they are overrated especially some of the people who put too big of turbos on them. The main thing is the stock motor could boost for days. But when it comes down to it still a 20 year old car and they are more common now= not as cool

Im just saying bro yes huge difference in type of motor i get that... But its still a 6 cylinder engine. And that weird V6 has more balls then my friends GT500 thats pushing 800HP the Supra is pushing 926 HP all wheel drive (drive train mod) so it just murdered my friend at the track last week. Using street tires no slicks because my friend tore up his old slicks already and is waiting to get a new set. This was all done at 33lbs of boost which is less then it usually has. The owner can up the boost to 39lbs and push 1000HP + to the wheels bro. The Supra, GTR, and Bugatti are the ONLY imports i respect and like. Now if u wanna talk weird engines check out the Bugatti Veyron SS it was a W16 engine which is crazy! With quad turbo's. but thats why its 3million each lol

Veyron ss ftw.

But, I'm sure its been previously stated, it'll never sound truly like a v8, but a very nice combo I've heard is divorce duals with flowmaster 10s. I heard them on a 97 3.8 and it was beautiful.. but I'm a big fan of the flowmaster rumble.
I have FM 50s on my 95 v6 right now and its nowhere near loud enough for me. Lol

I understand supra motors lol i work on a few. Ive also worked on ferraris, Lamborghini's, and a few 911's...tossing engine models at me means nothing lol. What it came down to is you so adament about a supra being a v6....how you confuse a 2jz with a v6 and still try to say you're right is laughable. Then finally you admit you're wrong but you have to try to seem right still. I said to not make this a v6 vs v8 debate on page one but some of you did it anyways....so lets put it this way...keep it on the initial exhaust question. If you wanna talk big motors start a new thread or take it to pm lol

02 was the last year of the supra in certain markets. if I remember right, 96 or 98 was the last year in america.

I never said i was wrong i said sure its a different type of motor yet still 6 cylinders as always anyone online can say anything they want. I can say i work on bugatti's everyday lol i own three since were on the subject

For the original poster. Want loud and mean. Get a uncatted H-Pipe which any good muffler shop can fabricate and get Borla Stingers. I have BBK Headers, high flow xpipe and resonators then straight pipe. Look up my videos on youtube its the only V6 with my setup so u cant miss it. It wont sound the same as in real life of course but you will get an idea.

Then it will sound like a V8. You got a awesome V6 with true dual exhaust. With an aftermarket exhaust it will have a awesome growl. Remember, No V8!
More like making a dog sound like a wolf. The V6 sounds great. It's a V6 not a straight 6 like back when this argument was valid.

number one thing i tell guys with 4 cyl and 6 cyl cars when they come in to get exhaust parts ordered is don't try to make it sound like something it's not. work towards just making it sound like something you love, and can hear daily.

They will race again next week. They will both have slicks, the supra will up the boost and the shelby will put his 105 race tune

I'll guess that now all the testosterone over V6 and Supra's is over, we can get back on track.

Accept the V6 tone for what it is. It can never sound like a V8, but can be made to sound good for its own.

Visit some weekend car shows, listen to the other V6's out there; choose your sound, then go with it.

Is there a real noticable difference in tone between the 3.8s and 4.0s? Tbh, I've never really heard a 4.0 in person with aftermarket exhaust. Only people around me with the newer v6s are 50+

---------- Post added at 07:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 AM ----------

Not saying 50+ year olds don't like it loud.. just saying, the ones around here are all about noise polution or something

Some day you'll be in that age group....and will have some consideration for your neighbors, and those you share the space with.

So for now, enjoy your youth, and noise pollution that some seem to have to have now.

I don't mean it like that at all. There's a decent hot rod community around, but I live in the middle of the city, factorys and trains constantly. My loudest vehicle was a 4x4 jeep, 318 small block, straight pipe dumped under the passenger cabin.

I like my car to be loud enough to hear the engine, and feel it in my chest, my grandma, oddly enough, was 70 years old and told my mom her firebird didn't sound muscle enough.. liking it loud is in my blood.

No worries, I did not take it wrong at all. There's always going to be a select few in the hobby that think a vehicle has to be obnoxious loud in order to be cool, or that loud = performance. While it's true that the funny cars and dragsters run open exhaust for maximum "no back pressure" exhaust, they also rebuild the engines after each race, and they run for less than a minute (if you include the idle time to the staging lights), and they don't run on public streets. I have no issues with a good rumble in the exhaust note; I do however think it does not need to be offensive to others that share the road.

God bless your grandma, she seemed cool!

Yeah, not that loud.. lol the jeep was mainly my off road toy, and a couple run ins with local boys in blue at fairs and car shows prompted me to put flowmasters on it.

And she was man, she was a great lady.
